I guess you don't play much Craps or where ever you play is some back woods casino.
I've never seen a string or Rod used on a Dice table, and I have played multiple casinos in Vegas, AC, Bahamas , PR and a couple of countries ... over 22+ Years

It isn't visible, it's under the layout. Look closely and u will see what appears to be a tiny wrinkle going up the width of the table in the middle

I researched it a little more and apparently it's a wire they use. I didn't know what material was used because it's under the felt. I have played all over from Vegas to AC and everywhere between and they are there. Maybe not every table has it but they are common. Once again it's not something you would notice unless you looked for it. They are more commonly referred to as speed bumps

Ive heard of stickmen setting the stick down on the table thus forcing the shooter to get the dice off the table and eliminate sliding
