Chick Fil A

Gosh , with all the reguirements i guess that leaves me out. Especially if they do stringent background checks. They are a cash cow however and was hoping to buy one and let one of my son's run it. The best chicken sanwich, bar none. Just bread and a pickle.

Chick-fil-A®, the privately-owned restaurant chain based in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the most successful fast food restaurant establishments in the country. With over 1,300 locations in 37 states in the Southern U.S., they continue to grow the brand by expanding to new territories every year. It's no wonder that thousands of entrepreneurs annually apply for a coveted Chick-fil-A franchise. However, only a handful will actually receive the opportunity.
It's important to note that a Chick-fil-A franchise is different from other franchise restaurant opportunities. First, you don't actually become the restaurant owner but rather the operator. This is because the parent company maintains full ownership of each location, but relies on successful business people to operate each restaurant.
The parent company has very strict rules and values that you must adhere to. Among the most unique qualities of Chick-fil-A is that they strongly promote family values. As such, all Chick-fil-A franchise owners are required to close operations on Sundays – a typically successful day for fast food establishments – and urged to spend the free time with their families.

I hear their company is doing quite well even when other places like McDonald's is losing money.

Just bread and a pickle.

I think they put a little oil on the buns too...or lightly butter them. That's why you can eat them plain and they don't seem dry. I like the Polynesian sauce on them though.

Their customer service is truly out of this world for FF. Seems like every 4th or 5th I go through the drive thru the attendant will see my 5 YO daughter in the back and give her a free shake or cone.

I'll have to try the Polynesian sauce. I usually get the BBQ or honey mustard or the original sauce.

They seem to be very picky, even some of the other info tell this as well.

And I'm not sure what $5K will get you. Doesn't sound like you can Own the whole thing.

I'll do a little digging--I know someone who used to be a CFA employee and now does some mentoring work with new operators--she's pretty wired in on how CFA works. She asked me to come in and help with a new operator in a mall location--review his financials,etc--and the kid is really young! I know there's now way he could have come up with big money, but I think she told me that he was a long time employee that was awarded a store as an operator (you don't own them--CFA does).

I'll get more info.

Chick-fil-A Has 'Record-Setting' Sales on Appreciation Day

Chick-fil-A posted "record-setting" sales on Wednesday as thousands of people swarmed the chicken chain for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day after the chain's chief made anti-gay comments.

"While we don't release exact sales numbers, we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day," Steve Robinson, Chick-fil-A's executive vice president of marketing, said in a statement.

At least one location had to close early after nearly selling out of chicken. At others, lines snaked around buildings and patrons waited upwards of two hours to snag their chicken sandwiches and show their support for Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy's comments supporting traditional marriage.

"We are very grateful and humbled by the incredible turnout of loyal Chick-fil-A customers on August 1 at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country," Robinson said. "We congratulate local Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators and their team members for striving to serve each and every customer with genuine hospitality."

At the Chick-fil-A in Augusta, Georgia, about 150 miles from the franchise's Atlanta headquarters, the lunch line wait was hours long. And after a day of lines that snaked around the building, the restaurant had to turn away part of the dinner crowd, closing two hours early due to low supplies.

Lillian Huber, the Augusta Chick-fil-A's marketing director, told ABC News that employees began directing customers to another location around 8 p.m. so the store would have enough food left to open the next morning.

With no Chick-fil-A locations in Maine, Auburn, Maine resident Arthur Langley organized a caravan to cart supporters to the nearest location two hours away. Langley said he and 14 friends and supporters drove the two hours and "happily" waited a "very very long time" to "demonstrate their support for what they believe was very important values in our society."

Langley said the Chick-fil-A in a food court in Peabody, Massachusetts was "swamped with people" and felt like a family reunion.

"It was people you really don't know but you know they're family so you treat them politely and nicely," he said.

Mike Huckabee, who created the Appreciation Day movement on Facebook, said on his radio show yesterday that he was "giddy" about outcome.

"People are voting with their feet today," Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, said. "I guess you could also say they are voting with their faces, they are stuffing them with chicken sandwiches, those lovely Chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A."

In Fayettville, Ga., CEO Cathy greeted customers waiting in line at the drive-thru and thanked them for their support. One Chick-fil-A goer tweeted this photo of Cathy:

The CEO has not spoken publically or agreed to any more interviews following the backlash over comments he made to the Baptist Press supporting "the biblical definition of the family unit."

"We are very much supportive of the family," Cathy said. "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives."

After an outpouring of support for Cathy and his company during Wednesday's Appreciation Day, gay activists are taking to the streets, or rather the Chick-fil-A parking lots, around the country for National Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A on Friday to protest the chicken chain's opposition to the LGBTQ community.

Same-sex couples are being urged to take photos and videos of themselves kissing outside of Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide.

About 11,000 have said on Facebook that they will attend the event. The Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day event had about 55 times that many Facebook attendees.

Although the restaurant chain has become a rallying cry for people on both sides of the marriage debate, Chick-fil-A has aimed to stay out of the politics and controversy stemming from its CEO's comments.

"The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect –regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender," Robinson said in a statement. "We understand from news reports that Friday may present yet another opportunity for us to serve with genuine hospitality, superior service and great food."

Not everyone may share the same views on gay marriage as Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy, but it appears that people in the U.S. love the chain's food and service.
According to the latest customer satisfaction survey from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), the chicken chain was voted as the country’s favorite fast food establishment.
The company scored an 86, the highest ever rating for a company in the quick service category. and a strong showing for a first-time competitor. Chipotle came in second place with a score of 83, while Panera came in third.
Last year’s favorite, Papa John’s, fell five percentage points to fifth place. (Guess the Frito’s pizza wasn’t enough to wow consumers.)
“The fast casual segment of quick service restaurants is nicely situated for the confluence of changing consumer tastes and a rebounding economy,” ACSI director David VanAmburg said in a statement. “Consumers have a bit more money in their pockets, but are still pressed for time. Fast casual outlets offer higher-quality ingredients, freshness and fast service – all at a reasonable price.”
For the sixth year in a row McDonald’s, which has been struggling to turn around slumping sales, came in last out of the 17 brands ranked.
Other newcomers in the ranking, like Arby’s and Jack In The Box, didn't fare as well as Chick-fil-A, with scores of 74 and 72 respectively. Jack In The Box came in just one point above McDonald’s.
So how does your favorite place to eat measure up? Check out the report for all types of eateries.

</aside>A student senator at Duquesne University proposed last month during a Student Government Association that the group pass a resolution urging the university to reconsider their plans to bring a Chick-fil-A to campus because it might not make LGBTQ students feel like they are in a safe place.
Student senator-at-large Niko Martini claimed that the restaurant has a contentious history because of the owner’s beliefs about same-sex marriage.”Chick-fil-A has a questionable history on civil rights and human rights,” Martini said in a statement to the university’s newspaper, The Duke. “I think it’s imperative the university chooses to do business with organizations that coincide with the [university’s] mission and expectations they give students regarding diversity and inclusion.”
Martini, who is on the Lambda executive board, was joined in agreement by Lambda president Rachel Coury, who said she worried about the safety of the LGBTQ students on campus.
“I’ve tried very hard within the last semester and a half to promote this safe environment for the LGBTQ+ community,” Coury said. “So I fear that with the Chick-fil-A being in Options that maybe people will feel that safe place is at risk.”

Chick-fil-A was propelled to the center of controversy in 2012 when the company’s chief operating officer Dan T. Cathy made public remarks opposing same-sex marriage. Reports then uncovered the company’s charitable donations, many of which went to non-profit organizations that fought against same-sex marriage.
The company released a statement later that year saying they would no longer donate to anti-LGBT causes, insisting that they would “leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”
Duquesne spokeswoman Bridget Fare said that students requested that Chick-fil-A be added to the available student dining options, and that the school has been assured by the restaurant that they do not discriminate.
Coury told The Duke that she is anxious for Duquesne administrators to acknowledge the issue. “It would be a really big deal for Lambda and the whole LGBTQ community on campus if someone could make a statement to eliminate the fear of being marginalized by having this business on campus,” she said.
Lambda’s faculty advisor Alia Pustorino-Clevenger said the group had met with the Auxilary Services department to share their concerns over the proposed addition of the restaurant on campus. “Lambda’s leadership met recently with Auxiliary Services to share their concerns regarding Chick-fil-A’s corporate position on LGTBQIA+ issues,” she said. “They will continue to have meetings in the upcoming weeks with Auxiliary Services and Parkhurst to address this matter further.”
The SGA did not agree to pass a resolution, but compromised by agreeing to consider a different measure that would allow for a vetting process of the Chick-fil-A Express.
SGA President Olivia Erickson told The Duke that the addition of the restaurant was a matter the student government took very seriously and intends to look into it further.
“We at SGA take this concern very seriously,” she said. “We are working on gathering students’ opinions and getting all the facts we can so we can make the best decision.”
