Must be from one of the weird things you read.

You are right...thats what I get for reading left wing theory.@)

The Population Bomb (1968) is a book written by Paul R. Ehrlich. A best-selling work, it predicted disaster for humanity due to overpopulation and the "population explosion". The book predicted that "in the 1970s and 1980s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death", that nothing can be done to avoid mass famine greater than any in the history, and radical action is needed to limit the overpopulation.

Hottest day in Chicago this year is 86. Only three of the last 31 days were above normal.

That's not true. It wasn't very long but there were a few days in a row, I think late June or early July, where it was mid-90's.

But otherwise it's been awesome. I love 70's temps. :103631605

when are you people going to realize that al gore and the rest of these people who push global warming are invested up to their necks in "green" companies. this is why they pass green legislation and push global warming fallacies down the the throats of their devout followers (punter, baseballsucker, etc), so they can get richer. scientists (who dont work for the government) still are not in agreement on what causes temperature swings. is the overall average temp up recently? yes. is it exclusively the fault of humans? we dont know. will the average temp go back down in the near future? good question. if temp swings, or as lefties call it, global warming, is such a human problem then why is the biggest advocate (al "the hypocrite" gore) telling people to tame their carbon footprints when he doesnt even try to reduce his own? :):)

they'll realize it when we're losing 2 jobs for every 1 'green' job, when they're paying double for electricity, and when nearly every hi-tech startup outsources their software development to India/Paki/China

Its because the Chinese and Indians will do jobs a LOT more cheaply than North Americans. Have you ever tried to run a call centre where you had to pay your customer support staff $35,000 a year. It's a lot easier to pay some Rupees for some English and dialect lessons.

ive stayed out of this debate for a long time. honestly, i dont want to believe in global warming, but as a guy with a masters in anthropology and subscriptions to various academic journals, too much evidence is out there to prove that it exists. plainly put, the reason it is also "cold" is because as the earth warms because of "greenhouse gases" it also allows less sunlight through and causes pockets of cooling.

a recent breakthrough study has shown that a rise in sea surface temperature (sst) is causing glaciers to melt at an alarming rate not from the temp, or sun exposure, but from the inside as water tries to circulate. if the ice caps melt as predicted by the worlds top scientists by 2040... or by the new calculation bases on SST rises in 2030, it will be nearly impossible to not see a rise in temp of 5-8 degrees in that time frame.

has there always been shifts in earth temps and SST's according to climatic reconstructions? yes. did paleo and early historic people pollute the environment to the extent we have? no way. if you dont think warming exists, just wait 30 years
