God, I'm so sorry about what happened to your friends. My advice is to focus hard on your dream if that's what makes you happy. Be constant and strive and I assure you that you will succeed.
One way to promote yourself can be social networks and it doesn't have to be exactly with ads, you can do it manually and also the abstract art niche is very large. And if your art is good I'm sure there will be many people interested.

I'm still chasing my dream of being an artist , so much has happened since I started this thread ....... Things going on in the world & with me personally .
I've been doing some painting studies & painting ? a few works ( on Linen Canvas & Paper ) which are my preferred supports
Been looking at possibly doing a few works on Wood to see how I like that .
I mostly paint using R&F Oil Bars / Pigment Sticks & Palette Knives ( I'll also use Oils out of the tubes ) & as I've mentioned before I'm an aspiring Abstract Artist .
I also decided awhile back to use a pseudonym as my name for various reasons .
the " Works " I've completed already I'm in the process of Copyrighting them with the U.S Copyright Office & are currently in my own Collection ( not for sale yet anyway ) .
I'm going to start working on a piece soon that I'm excited about & hoping to find a place to display it Publicly after it's finished .
Anyway , that's all for now , wishing everybody the best & to be happy ?
