I am still not sure if he can even be put in the program if their is no arrest and no proof. The audio says class D but that is mostly marijuana in MASS (and some pills) but not illegal substances. Marijuana is medically legal. I doubt Jones' had a script, and the NFL will still suspend a player, I think, for failing a test, but right now we can't be sure what drug he used or possessed. So how can they NFL? ANd the Player's Union has a good record in court on these issues.
But, this may hurt Jones' value in free agency which is in the 2017 off-season (assuming the Pat's keep his 5th year option). His reputation will take a hit even if he never gets formally "caught." If Jones gets traded for a 4th round pick or something in the off-season that would reflect this. OR if, when he hits free agency he only, probably in 2017, it may well hurt his value. The Pat's will likely not franchise him because Hightower is also a free agent at that time, maybe Solder too. Plus, those cap numbers hurt on franchise tag. So, my point is, any team negotiating a contract with Jones will have leverage for less guaranteed money, more ways for the team to opt out, and if the Pat's trade him, they won't get much since he will make a lot on a 5th year option and this will sully his reputation.
