his number is 8 5 not 85

Chad was number 5 growing up as his idol was Joe DiMaggio his best friend was number 8 for Yogi Berra

we don't know the rest of the story but that is why he put the 8 in front of the 5

so he is Ocho Cinco :toast:

He actually did it: Bye, Chad Johnson. Hello, Chad Ocho Cinco

Chad Johnson no longer exists. From now on, when referring to the Bengals wide receiver who wears #85, he'll have to be called Chad Ocho Cinco, for that is now his legal name.
It's been rumored for a while now. Miami radio station 790 The Ticket reported that it became official last night, and Will Brinson of the FanHouse confirmed it with Broward Country officials this morning.
Presumably, it will read "Ocho Cinco" across the back of Chad's jersey now, and there will be nothing Roger Goodell can do about it.
I don't even know what to say at this point. My initial reaction still stands, but now that it's real, I feel more sadness than anything. In all my years of watching sports, I don't know that I've ever seen anyone who needs attention quite as badly as Chad (sigh) Ocho Cinco. Jose Canseco, maybe. Ocho Cinco isn't quite the pity case that Canseco is, but he's on his way.
If he's going to call that much attention to himself, he better have a huge season.

trying to find something on that

for starters....

Moreover, even in the socialistic world of the NFL, where parity is a product of shared revenue, not all teams' revenues are created equally. While television money is shared equally, regardless of a team's ratings power, locally generated revenues -- advertising, luxury suite and club seat sales, stadium naming rights, and concessions -- are not. So despite that shared revenue and the salary cap that insists teams spend the same amount on player salaries, there is a surprisingly wide disparity in teams' individual revenues.

might be part of some revenue sharing though....

I am pretty sure players get 10% of their own jersey sales

I just can't believe he went through with this ridiculous thing. I'm embarrassed to have him on my fantasy team.

Changing your last name to Ocho Cinco? Really? This lasts a year at most before he changes back or gets laughed out of the league.

My 10 year old brother isn't this childish.

I don't think Chad will go back.

What are some of the great name changes by athletes.

World B. Free comes to mind.

Muhammed Ali and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are prolly the most famous.

Pele certainly has to be considered.

Nene doesn't count, since he was already Nene Hilaro.

Hakeem Olajuwon was Akeem Abdul-Olajuwon if I am not mistaken.

I know there are some others... lemme think

Bobby Moore we all know is Ahmad Rashad.

There was that UCLA running back Sharmon Shah who changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbarm then had to change it to Karim Abdul-Jabbar.
