That whole "Better to lose now than later...now they can relax" is such a crock of shit.
Why are they a better team now that they've lost? Does anyone think they really lost because they were too uptight about not losing? The lost because:
Atlanta's defense finally showed up. They held Ginn and Olsen to 5 catches COMBINED. A lot of this is due to the pressure constantly applied to Cam, who was a crappy 17-30.
With Stewart out the Cats had to rely on Payne. Not your best option for a running game.
Atlanta's offense was clicking on all cylinders. Julio had his first real breakout day since the press started slurping his ass. Matty ice was effective and efficient. And this allowed Freeman to open up the middle. Atlanta's play calling was SO much better than Carolina. If anything, Ronny Riv was outcoached and exposed (although I don't know if he calls the plays or not and don't care enough to look it up, ha).
And I promise it doesn't make a damn bit of difference moving forward. I've forever hated that mantra "I hope they lose now so they get it out of their system!" Do you think any team in the playoffs isn't aware it's win or go home? Losing early is of no benefit.
I didn't see Atlanta do anything special that would 'expose' the Panthers moving forward.
I also don't think there's one iota more/less pressure now that they have a check in the loss column.
All I saw is one team outperform another team yesterday.
And on a completely unrelated note, Cam's actions postgame were of the douchebag variety, IMO.
