the fxckin piece of shit who did this will have 3 hots and a cot for the rest of his life, free medical, free dental, free TV free lawyers....free fxckin because he will be able to rape and obtain sex from 18 year olds that are doing a 3 to 5 year for stealing cars or some other victim less crime and possibly be killed themselves from this cocksucker because that fxckin pablum puking phoney fxckin bleeding heart liberal John Kerry is against the death penalty....Remember he was Mike Dukakis's Lt. Govener in Mass....who let guys like the one who killed this 11 year old out on furlough...only to kill again.
So remember when you pull the lever for Kerry you may very well be pulling the trigger on another 11 year old.

Uhhhh...last I heard kidnapping and murder, when the body is found in the same state, is a state crime. Florida courts are going to try this one so I don't see how Kerry or Bush would make any difference here. Besides those "free" things you mention are there now, they aren't something that Bush or the Republicans are going to end.

"Free lawyers", pretty funny you argue against something that is pretty much held up as a Constitutional right!

This is a case were a little northern Minnesota justice needs to occur. Let the ****er out with no bail and see what happens.
The ****en attorney will no doubt ask for a 5 million dollar bail so he'll be protected in prison.

No..Felony lover Kerry will try to make it unconstitutional to have the death penalty...their will be an abortion clinic at every corner..but no death penalty.

The biggest block of voters will be from convicted felons for Kerry.
Another reason not to vote for Kerry he will nominate every judge named "Moon Unit" on the Supreme court.

I tend to sit on the non-committal fence with the death penalty issue (concerned about mistakenly executing someone) but I can say that I am really bothered by the fact that people knee-jerk immediately into justice-speak rather than sympathy for the victim and her family. The drum beat for justice should be left until the poor girl has been buried.

My heart goes out to her family and friends.

You got it backwards xpanda, as usual.

Public execution tomorrow is what is needed. Then bury the girl.

Why are some of you so all-consumed with vengeance that you can't prioritize sad emotions over angry ones? If the girl's mother sat in front of you, would you whisper 'I'm so sorry' or 'we should fry the ****er' first?

It is not vengeance. It is a concept called singular or individual deterrence. Yes, executing this man may not deter others from committing similar crimes, but I guarantee you that it will deter HIM from EVER murdering another person.

Stuff it, JP. The American obsession with violence could very well be the reason why your murder rate is as high as it is ... call me a bleeding heart all you want (is that supposed to be an insult?) but the truth still remains that you want to hang this guy (publicly!) tomorrow, before a trial because all you can taste is blood.

I'm not necessarily saying I wouldn't support the death penalty in this case, if you'd bothered to have read what I originally wrote, I'm just saying that I find it rather sad that people's first reaction is vengeance, not empathy (for her family.) Frankly, I think the victims' families should have the final say in the fate of their daughter's killer.

It's called either Capital Punishment or the Death Penalty. Its design is punitive in nature, not deterrent in nature, so yes, it is vengeance.

So you deny that Capital Punishment deters the convicted individual from ever murdering again??

Please explain.

Nothing you or I can say to this darling little girls' mother will bring this girl back to life. Furthmore, I'm sure I could be as empathetic to her family every bit as much as you. It's just that I could take care of a little business with the murderer were you would probably try to understand his feelings as well. The sooner you take care of business with this child murderer the quicker the healing process. The sooner you kill the cancerous cells the better chance you will have of recovering. What are you going to say to the mother when she gets angry? He should not get anymore time here on earth than that darling little girl got.

Let's not even consider the people who have been executed (or almost executed) who turned out to be COMPLETELY INNOCENT of the crimes which they were sentenced to death.

This is about the most disgusting post I've ever seen on this forum, using the death of a little girl to generate a sound-bite and score a cheap political point. Typical tactic of the right-wing hate *****rs.

John Kerry was a prosecutor who jailed drug dealers, rapists, murderers, and organized criminals.

Holy crap, you're quite the twister, aren't you? No, I don't deny that killing the killer, would prevent him from killing again. I didn't think that such an obvious fact needed to be stated. What I DID say, though, to refute your assertions, is that capital punishment is not what it is for some 'altruistic end of deterring the convicted' but is, rather, a punishment. When I read jointpleasure's statements that the guy should be publicly executed tomorrow, in the town hall this is not the verbage of a man who is 'singularly' worried about the chance of this guy killing again, but is the cry of a man wanting vengeance.

JP: as much as my empathetic words couldn't bring this little girl back, neither can killing her murderer. You seem to think that I feel sympathy for this man. Where do you get that? I may actually favour putting this man to death -- I don't know the details yet, though, and it certainly isn't the very first reaction I have to hearing about this. I'm only pointing out what a bizarre obsession and propensity for violence that Americans (some) seem to have ... would you actually take pleasure in attending the public execution of this criminal? How is your society better off by encouraging this kind of behaviour?

Life is not as black and white as you would have it be.
