Buddyboy, my point is if a player gives Carib or identity thief the last 4 digits there is no need to add that into the equation (it is known). So now four of 9 numbers are known. If the book or identity thief can assume the player is playing from the state he was born, the first 3 digits are known. Therefore the middle two #'s are all that would be needed 00 thru 99.

ok the first 3 digits are suppose to assigned to the birth state...(not sure if it's true or not so let's assume it is)

let's also assume that of the 1000 numbers they are divided equally between the states... so each state has 20 numbers assigned to it.

20 X 100 X 10000 (20 is the first 3, 100 is the 2nd two and 10000 is the last 4) would make the odds of guessing a persons ssn by just knowing the birth state to around 20,000,000 to one. of course knowing the last 4 brings those odds down to 2000 to one.

All I am saying is if the FBI wanted your SSN they would look it up, they wouldn't have carib get it for them.

I have no idea why they need your ssn... and I'm sure the clerk is only telling you what she was told to say... get a manager on the horn and find out why. maybe they have to verify your address, ssn, and city all match before they WU that money to your city. who knows... but I doubt the feds are involved

buddyboy, i don't think you've read this thread carefully.

let's say when carib asks me for the last 4 digits of my ssn, i say "1234". since they do not have my ssn, and western union does not have my ssn, they have NO WAY to verify that the 4 digits i give them are accurate.

therfore, they are lying about why they need this info. this begs the question...why are they asking for this information?

lets say you give carib your last 4.

with your last 4 and the address you gave them carib can verify thru different services if they match. If they match they send the WU, if they don't they would dig deeper to see if an employee was trying to steal funds from the players.

ok, i guess that makes some sense if its true. its kinda scary that there is a "service" out there that can verify my personal info using my last four.

also, this was a DEPOSIT, not a withdrawl. and, the deposit was processed even though i gave them nothing.

it still doesn't add up to me.
