General, your routine has to be boring and it'll set you up to quit. Get outside and run/walk to start. At least 20 mins to begin with. Run slow as much as you can handle and increase running by about 10% a week. 6',240
but how old? If your serious get a checkup sometime along the way. Go by what your body tells you. I'm 62 in April and I'm going to run the LV half marathon, Jan 24, as part of my training for the LA Marathon in March. I'm doing 60+ miles a week at this stage of training but will adjust upwards in Jan then taper off for the marathon. I have a mitral valve prolapse/reguritation, a heart arrythmia
and an underactive thyroid. I worry about the heart abnormalities and get it checked once in awhile but guess what? The only time it works perfect is when I run. I murder the stress tests. The point of all this bs about my routine is to keep you at it. I began with the run/walk routine many moons ago. Be patient. Life is a marathon not a sprint. Like they say in the can, run fast & drink lots of water.....ScottyS
