Card collecting + hot wheels observation

Prices have skyrocketed over the past 6 months to a year. Some cards are selling for 10-50x times what they were just selling for less than 18 months ago. Shoot a 1986 Jordan rookie GEM Mint 10 sold for $125k last week.

when sports cards really took off in the late 90's and early 2000's with game used, autos, serial #ed cards etc. all those teenagers are now 30-40 year olds with jobs/money to get back into a childhood memory

I really got into card collecting around 97-98 with my childhood best friend. We would setup at card shows, worked at a sports card/memorabilia store etc. Ive probably had 1000s of autos in my life. Peyton manning, Brady, Larry Bird, hof greats etc. In 98 I was 13 and was hooked on Basketball. as I got a few years older and was playing football, I switched to collect football cards/pieces. I still had a huge collection when I started college, but once at school, I thought it was a childish hobby. I sold pretty much everything for nights out/partying. Once out of school, I and in my mid 20's I missed it, but brands had changed and I just never picked it back up. In 2015, I bought my first house with a finished basement and have started picking up some signed pieces again for my basement.
