I can't read peoples thoughts. I have to go by what they say.

As far as picking him apart, all I did was do some research and found the numbers did not support what he was saying. There is nothing wrong with that. Just because someone posts something it doesn't mean it's true. It's okay to think for yourself and research what people say. Maybe you take everything everyone says to you as gospel but I don't.

When I started seriously capping the NFL, I approached it by thinking I knew absolutely nothing about football. I thought that way so I would research EVERYTHING that I thought would help me in winning. When I see people post ideas, systems, etc. I go back to square one by researching what they say. You'd be surprised how many times the numbers don't add up.

It's nothing personal. It's just that I have to see if what they're saying makes sense and if history can back it up. If it does, then maybe I can use it in my capping. If it doesn't, then I will post the results for others to see. Information is no good if it is wrong.

Tatehill et al, I think that BigLou is alright - it's just that he has a problem dealing with people in a diplomatic way - and I believe that he truely doesn't get it; kinda like Mister Spock resonding to Captain Kirks request for the time that "it's galactic 0270367925472.339" instead of just saying it's 7:00 PM.
Either that, or he's jealous of 'cappers with a good record that don't do handicapping the way BigLou thinks they should.

Which one do you think it is?

Good luck!

God I need to stop coming to this forum. The wait is bad enough, this just makes it worse. Sundays just flat suck without football. I just got back from the "war for cheaper oil" not to long ago and this is all I can think about. I am taking some vacation time this fall to go see the Lions play the Cowboys and going to Chicago to see them play the Bears the following Sunday. No big deal, except I am in GERMANY!! God I am a freakin nut case.

And the trend is 15-15-3 ATS over the past six seasons. How the hell is that a big advantage???

I'm not trying to be a prick here but I seriously don't understand the point you're trying to make. When I start researching an idea or theory and the results come out 50-50, I stop. Do you have specific numbers supporting what you're trying to say?

if it is a big adv. why do teams lose???

what causes it????

what are the conditions???

are they at home or on the road???

where did they play the week before???

was the team playing their starters a full half instead of just 2 series like the team they were playing???

Then post the facts. What are the results of teams coming off a SU win as a favorite on a neutral site facing a team that hasn't played a game yet? Or a team that lost SU as an underdog on the road and are favored at home against a team playing their first game? If you have these numbers please share them with us. I like to see results that I can write down and research myself so please post your findings.

As usual, your numbers are off.

Remember, you started this thread to share your handicapping methods with us. I'm asking you to post some concrete results of the methods you use in handicapping pre-season football. Do you have any to share with us?

I have never really liked stats as they can be twisted, EG why only 6 years, what about 10 or 20.I have a friend who makes profit by going against certain runs. Surely its more important that you have definate angles on a game, if a team had lost its last 6 at say Green Bay but Green bay had 7 starters missing, how would that effect the outcome.More important is, are the odds right.

I didn't realize that asking for some posted results, in a thread supposedly started to help us with our handicapping, was such a chore.

Big Lou

P.S. - I have nothing to hide, that's why I post the reasoning behind my picks and my record weekly, which is a combined (regular season and post season) 93-72 ATS here at the Rx the past two seasons.
