Vancouver was shut down by the Av's 3-0 in their 2nd game of the year the young AV's surprised the Canucks with their hard work and trapping style defense.
The same thing happened to the San Jose Sharks in the first game of the year 5-2 losers in Colorado to open the season. The next time they hooked up the sharks won 3-1 that was this passed Friday.
San jose out shot the AV's 46-25 almost 2-1....in fact in the last 4 games the Av's have been out shot. 152-95. Both Calgary and Detroit both out shot them 2-1 and they out shot the Flu ravaged Oilers 33-25 when they played them.
The Avs power play is 0/17 over that same time span. It would seem that the word is out on the Avs and teams are more prepared to play them. Most prognosticators had the AVS as a bottom feeder in the west yet they lead the north west division. They are a 8 points clear of the Canucks so far this season.
Vancouver opened as a -130 favorite at the Greek and still sits there - despite the public favoring the Av's 3-1.
The play tonight is Vancouver ML 25* to win 21.5* matchbook

Dropped 2 units last night but what a game by VCR - if they had have counted that Kesler goal we would have been okay. Rangers look like a one line team with some defenseman that can move the puck, not could enough to compete in the West.
Calgary got bag skated the other day in practise and IMO are the better team in this matchup. They lost to Dallas earlier in the season when it was the battle of the back ups. Crawford has injected some life into teh stars by reviving an uptempo strategy in Dallas, but they don't have the horses to compete with CGY. I think the flames will be in fine form tonight vs a beat up Dallas team.
