According to a Wolves’ press release, three popular players, Aaren Lines, Nick Aragona and last year’s leading scorer Antonio Stranges were all released by the team for “lack of participation in practise and games” and a lack of “work commitment.” prior to last game
“It’s been tough. There’s no two ways about it,” said Wolves coach James McGillivray. “This is the first time all season long that we’ve started two games in a row with the same lineup. It’s hard when you’re bringing guys in and out because guys have to figure out how people play and their strengths and weaknesses.”
Perri, the club’s captain, agreed that player turnover has played a role in their record.
“It’s been a major, major factor this year. Last year, we had a consistent lineup of 18-20 people coming and showing up for every game, we had commitment last year. This year we don’t have that commitment, therefore we’re finding new players in the lineup every time, and it’s hard to get team unity when there’s different people coming in every week. Hopefully this is the group that’s going to last the rest of the year. Hopefully we can buildsomething and try and get a couple wins.”
The Wolves had their chances last game but they couldn’t capitalize.
“The last couple of games we’ve been competing better, we’re getting forward, creating chances,” theWolves coach said. “We just need to take our chances.”
