anyone follow this league?

There's a team in my back yard- St Catharines Wolves, so I have to get into this league now that Pinnacle is offering wagering on it. Only $5 admission to the games! This summer is going to be sick wagering on this league, should provide for lots of excitement. The season just began which is great.

They play at Club Roma, literally like 5 minutes from my house. I actually got busted by the cops there one night a few years ago smoking weed at the park with a couple buddies haha

My guess is Pinnacle know's little to nothing about the league. For example, all totals are set at 3 tomorrow??

I did some # crunching based on last years #'s...

Average # of goals- 3.6/game

National Division

TFC Academy- Expansion Team

Windsor Border Stars
1.5 GF
2.2 GA

St Catharines Wolves
1.6 GF
0.9 GA

Brampton Lions
1.8 GF
1.6 GA

London City
0.7 GF
3.7 GA

Trois-Rivieres Attak
2.2 GF
1.3 GA

North York Astros
1.5 GF
2.5 GA

International Division

Serbian White Eagles
2.5 GF
1.4 GA

Italia Shooters
2 GF
0.8 GA

Toronto Croatia
1.9 GF
0.7 GA

Portugal FC
1.4 GF
1.9 GA

Like I say, I highly doubt Pinnacle's lines are sharp with this league. Even for the Ontario Hockey League, which is on a waaaaaaay higher scale than this league, the lines were way off. I'll be looking to take advantage of Pinny.

Let em know if any of you soccer heads follow this league or any of the teams or have any good sites or info on the league.

I put in a couple 1/2 unit plays for tomorrow to experiment...

Friday, May 30...

TFC Academy/Italia Shooters UNDER 3 -137

Toronto FC's Academy from MLS is in this league to get the players experience. They are a new team this season. They have played 3 games- the most of any team in the league so far, and all three games have ended 1-0. Last season Italia allowed just 0.8 goals against/game which was 2nd best in the league an they're off a clean sheet.

London City/Windsor Border Stars OVER 3 -114

Using last year's #'s this should be a 4 total. They already met this season and it was 2-1 Windsor at home.

If people can gain a good understanding on leagues like this it is MUCH easier to make money than it is to bet on leagues like the NFL, NBA etc. Like you said the lines won't be nearly as sharp and there will be value presented with every line.

Good luck..I'm from Canada too and I have honestly never even heard of this league. Do you know if they have a team in Ottawa?

Thanks Phil,

I was surprised to see the list of the teams and read there was a team in my area i never heard of even in local newspaper ever before..
i used to live in North York for 10 years and never heard of the Astros or read anything about them even not in the neighborhood papers..funny.

If these players know there is gambling over their matches,i think its end for that league as some of these players
would be making fortune out of gambling where of playing they get nothing really.

Phil do some more digging ,see if you come up with anything:toast:

Every once in a while I take a peak at the lines, but really don't have an interest in it. The leagues I play, I track and chart in my own twisted way. If I had to wager on this league, it would mean having to follow it, and actually having to watch some games. As there are no televised matches in my area, I pass. I think I'm more comfortable with United Soccer League, where I can watch just about every game on USLLIVE.COM (50$ for the entire season, a freaking bargain). But if one has a specific angle on a game and is close to the action, I might jump on board for a play or two. Heck, it can't be worst than playing International Friendlies.

hey, thanks for the responses guys.

Chase...

my 1st time wagering on the league I already found their opening lines were off. The TFC Academy/Italia Shooters total is down to 2.5 now and the London/Windsor total is 3 & 3.5 now, not just 3.
No team from Ottawa however.

Betting4Fun...

thanks for the encouragement. That's interesting. Do you still live in North York or elsewhere now? If you're in North York you can be out Astros expert, that would be valuable.
I'll definitely keep capping this league whether or not I win tonight or not. $5 to watch soccer that I have cash on is great value and should make for lots of excitement this summer.

the mad actuarian...

this league is a notch below the USL. In fact, Trois Rivieries is a reserve team to the Montreal Impact and played pre season games against them.

I emailed some guys to ry to get info on the teams ie. what tactics do the teams employ? this is the best response I got so far...

"we try to possess the ball. And use our dangerous forwards. thanks"

Jeff Hodgson
President
Borderstars Pro Soccer Club

that sounds accurate from the stats and info I've gathered.

I also read Portigal FC now has a relation with the Brazilian 1st Division. They brought in Gomes who scored 15 goals last season in the Sao Paulo Junior League. They also have Pereira who lit up the CSL All Star game last year as well

anyways, thanks again guys. let me know if you have any other comments or questions or info on the league

2-0 for +1 units

Friday

Brampton Stallions +0.5 and +1 (-108)

This line is off. No way BRM should be +1 @ HOME to Windsor. Windsor are tied for 1st in their division after 3 games played but BOTH wins have came against the weak link in the league- London. The lost away to North York 3-0 in their last game. Brampton lost a close one to the defending Champs away 2-1 and then came home to beat the Toronto FC Academy 1-0. Brampon should def be favoured at home in this spot.

risking 3.2 units to win 3

Serbian White Eagles +0.5 (-125)

Another home team that should be laying a half goal or at worst this game should be a pick. No way SWE should be getting a half goal at home. These teams already played once this season and it resulted in a 2-2 Draw but Italia was the home team then.

risking 1.3 unts to win 1

Home Teams are 11-5 vs a +0.5 line in this league so far

Good luck. May the winners be yours.

Hey Phil, I noticed this on Pinny myself. I saw "Canada" under soccer and I went :think2:.

Then I looked at the teams and I didn't have a clue. I found their website, apparently the league is the official FIFA Canadian league. You learn something new every day. Looks totally bush league though, I would have absolutely no clue. $5 admission though, can't beat that. Reminds me of the local football team we have here (Sault Steelers), they actually won the championship last year, but they are just semi-pro. All the players have to hold down jobs.

I'm not too sure about that. I think us gamblers are in the minority. Heck, ask a regular joe about Pinnacle or TheGreek, he probably wouldn't have a clue. I couldn't believe my eyes last September when I saw Pinnacle offering wagering on OHL games. I don't think OHL brass knows that there are line put up on their games, they would go insane if they found out about gambling on their games and we would know about it as they would raise hell. In any event, if there is "hanky panky" going on, I don't think the majority would notice as they wouldn't even know as they are unaware that gambling on these games are going on. Add the fact in this case, very few even knew this soccer league existed (myself included, until I saw it on Pinny :lolBIG:)

pretty sure the maximum wager on OHL games was $50.
not sure any player would sell a game for a redback.

i made my first CSL play last friday...toronto croatia over brampton. went to watch the game and was a 2-1 winner.
what i couldn't believe was when i got home, the $ was already in my account.
how did pinn know the score?
the CSL site didn't have the score posted until, like, Sunday or something. pretty amazing.
