How does term limits change how society views policy?

You will just roll over the politicians faster. Presidents have strict term limits, we're not batting that out of the park as you can see.

elected officials more likely to do the right thing, not concerned about doing and saying everything just to get reelected to protect the life's blood, new blood meaning fewer life long alliances, voting along party lines all the time is mitigated to some extent, people with new ideas go to DC and work to implement those ideas and maybe most importantly we get rid of the party elders that make sure nothing ever changes

reduces the amount of money spent on elections every year, owning politicians becomes less valuable, reduces the influences of special interests, did I mention fresh faces and new ideas?

at least we're turning over our Presidents, but it doesn't mean much because the rest of the system is still rigged

and since careers are shortened, money is reduced, party alliances curtailed, aging foxes protecting the hen house eliminated....................we might actually see a little more honesty out of our political leaders

Patsfan, I cannot say it any better than Willie just did. Of course when our Country was founded it was a different time, but politics was NEVER supposed to be a career!

I wasn't saying term limits aren't a good idea, but it is a bit of a copout answer. What I say in post #19 is a big reason there are so many bad policies or failure of institutions over a long-term. The public mindset changing would be a lot more instrumental in politicians being more effective.

You tend to get the government you deserve.
