Again, sharing my real life “scare” with Covid to let you know the battle in the brain between the Common Sense and the .04 What If ...
Last week the place I volunteered allowed outsiders in provided we wore masks.
Even though not required I had them do a temp check and it was fine.
Probably 90% of the time I was further than 6’ away and at my work area no one was within 6’.
The other 4 helpers all over 70 wore mask, I didn’t.
When we were the closest, during buffet style lunch, mask came off.
Next day, finally got opportunity for teeth cleaning but felt warm, took temp and it was 99.6.
Cancelled dental appt and called place I volunteered as many old folks there (not a nursing home)
Took temp all afternoon and never higher than 99.6.
Only other symptoms were abdominal pain.
Next morning temp spiked at 101.8 so I became more concerned.
Took 2 acetaminophen at 5am that morning and two more every 6 hours.
Temp taken hourly and never above 99.6 after that spike.
Kept the folks where I volunteered informed.
Next day, now a Sunday, almost no fever the entire day but still abdominal pain.
Now I keep being told it could be appendicitis but the pain was not on the right side only...:smoking:
Call my Dr 1st thing Monday morning and get in that afternoon.
No fever, push around my stomach, sent for X-ray.
That evening they call and say “anybody ever tell you are full of it” because you really are full of
So Tues I go get this big ass 4 liter bottle of GaviLyte (used for pre-colonoscopy cleaning) and go through that in the afternoon.
Didn’t take too many hours and I wasn’t full of anything face)(*^%
Never took a Covid test.
So, entire time I was 99.96% sure I didn’t have Covid because the only symptom I had was a fever above 100.4 ONE time in a 72 hour time frame..
But it was still stressful thinking WHAT IF that .04 (or most likely much less since I had no symptoms) happened and I was THE ONE who exposed an entire group of folks over 70 with COVID.
I was past the fear once the temps dropped but to lessen the worry for others regarding Covid or appendicitis I was glad I went through what was needed to make them (and whatever bug in my stomach) feel better (and flushed out).
Anyway, that’s my story and I’m sticking to itdbanana0-9
