Honestly, I would probably vote for Dubya before I picked any of these guys. Al & Dennis & simply fruit-cakes that couldn't run a deli, let alone a country.

Braun, would probably do a better job than Dubya, but she has ZERO chance of winning .. last I heard she only raised $70,000 for her campaign while the others has several millions.

Why are they wasting everyone's time?

Lander,
I'll responsed to one of your dying threads.

So they can have the the title, Former presidential candidate put in front of their names when they are interviewed.

We actually agree on this issue.

I think you're right Out.

Al might actually be stupid enough to believe he has a chance. Maybe Braun is making a "statement" (somehow).

But yeah, it must be the title & getting your name heard ....

I never even heard of this Dennis turkey until he started embarrassing his-sorry-self in the Dem debates .... I mean he drove Cleveland into bankruptcy for God's sake ... why would anyone vote for him????

Lander - The SAD thing is that we NEVER have any good candidates ((that are NOT politicians on a string)) that are REALLY qualified to run this country.
All politicians are puppets on a string to some degree and we NEVER know who we are really voting for as it's the people that we don't see that are really behind these politicians and how they vote or act on issues. SECRET Agenda driven to the extreme. The Democrats are Republicans and the Republicans are Democrats...

Lander - Do you think Al Sharpton will hurt the Dems chance of winning 2004? In my honest opinion I think he is going to steal a lot of the black vote from a legitimate Democratic candidate.

the reason they run and spend 100's of thousands of dollars getting support is to create interest on a grass root level.

of course these guys will send a letter/phone call to all their supporters after they loose the nomination asking them to support another candidate.

the candidate that gets the support will compensate guys like Sharpton for "campaign material"

So that is why guys like this run for office... to make money.

IB - Great point. Republicans and Democrats both, there is so much money/lobbying out there, how can anything get done?

Did anyone watch that show on NBC last year called Mr. Sterling. I heard NBC cancelled it this year but I think it was pretty close to what goes on in the capitol.

What about "Distinguished Gentlemen"? Did anyone see that movie? I could see some of that stuff actually happening.

Sad but true, Sharpton is about all the democrats have to offer. Hillary would be even worse.

These days there is very little difference between the dems and rep., sad but true.

Too many people have their hands out and even the GOP is happy to buy their votes.

Republicrats is what we have.

KMAN,
I don't think Al will hurt anyone, just waste time & money.

He has ZERO chance of getting out of the primaries, and running as an indep will <hopefully> turn most would be votes away. Not to be racial, but his target audience is exactly a voting machine ... so what votes he gets may in large part be non-votes otherwise.

Who knows? but I don't see this having the Nader impact of 00'.

You obviously don't know the whole story about what happened there. But in a way you did touch on why American politics are so screwed up... because even the stupid and uninformed are given a vote.

No, I'm sorry that I didn't live in Clevland

But I have watched all the debated carefully enough to know that this guy's entry into the Presidential Race is a complete waste of time.

"because even the stupid and uninformed are given a vote"
By all means, Mr. educated & informed, please tell me how Dennis would make a good president.

The economy: Basically he's PRO-Union. Great, so let's elect Gephardt - he's more experienced & better qualified.

Energy policy: Kucinich has voted against oil and gas drilling in Alaska, the Great Lakes, the Gulf of Mexico and any other areas designated as national monuments.

Because it's better to what? Depend on Iraq for oil?

Foreign policy:
I agree with his Anti-war stance, but it's much like Howard Dean, yet less qualified.
So vote for Dean

Terrorism:
They're all (except maybe Al) VERY anti-terrorism & would keep sending "vital resources" to fight the "terror war".
All politicians will say this - would you want to be the terrorist guy?

Social Security:
Nothing overly insightful. He doesn't want the option for tax-payers to allocate their SS like it was an IRA or 401K. Fine, since we're just really giving that money to the elderly because we don't have enough.
Doesn't really matter.

MSNBC - He(Dennis) began his career by serving on the Cleveland City Council and then became the city’s mayor at age 31. During his tenure (as Cleveland's mayor), the city sank into default on its borrowing, which prompted voters to oust him after one term. Kucinich made his comeback in 1996 by defeating Rep. Martin Hoke. Kucinich’s Web site says he is “one of the few vegans in Congress, a dietary decision he credits not only with improving his health, but in deepening his belief in the sacredness of all species.”

The guy that may run and who make a very formidable opponent if won the nomination is Gen. Wesley Clark. He has an impeccable background as Spreme NATO Commander and a Rhodes Scholar. He is extremely well-spoken an thoughtful and appears very much to be a centrist type. His ability to handle foreign affairs would be unquestioned.

Clark is far left wing and has ZERO chance of running and less chance of winning anything.

I just heard Sharpton bounced a $3600,00 check to try to bring his payments current on his SUV and the finance company is trying to repo it. And this guy wants to run the UNITED STATES.

And he'd be the perfect guy to run it, considering the US is just about bankrupt anyway.

First of all, I am a 150% republican, but the best current candidate that has a chance against Bush is Kerry. If Pres. Bush does not find any WMD then the odds of him winning a second term are against him. Unless, the economy bounces back then maybe. Only time will tell.
