SOOOO true. Part of the reason I ditched digital cable was because of this crap. DirectTv is almost as bad. The days of channel surfing are over unless you are REALLY, really patient.

Direct TV needs to figure out a way to improve their high-speed internet offerings. Cable has DSL and all other choices beaten badly for price and speed now and with the package discounts it is hard to justify giving up cable on my end. For a little while DSL was getting competitive, but just recently my cable modem bumped up the speed and it is now 5 times as fast as DSL. Add that, plus access to every damn movie channel, like 20 of them when 3 or 4 would do and I pay $75/month and don't have to spring for a needless phone line. How can any satellite offer beat that?

Qwest DSLs are all now 1.5mb here, and Comcast cable is 3mb...all for $35-40\month.

We're talking T1 down speeds-NUTS!

This has to put the hurt to the telcos. I'm dying to hear what Jim Crowe(LVLT) has to say about the future of telco.

I'll be able to sit in on that meeting on Friday.
