here it is
here is something i wrote a while back
think what is being overlooked is not only the driving distance but also the club she will have to use from say 150 yards
even the players you mentioned which are around 10 yards longer off the tee than her will be hitting an 8 iron or at most a 7 from 150. she in turn will have to hit a 6 in most cases
all i am saying its a heck of alot easier to hit it close with a shoret club and this added length withj the irons that the men enjoy will even be compounded the longer the distance from the hole.
there is just not enough clubhead speed generated by her swing to hit an 8 iron 150 or a 4 iron 200.

the par 3 will be especially tough on her with them measuring
246,192, 178, 188

which means a driver, and 3 long irons where the men will be hitting a long iron and 3 middle irons

take a look at some of the par 4 at colonial and subtact her average drive and look at the didtance she has left
for example

476 yard minus 265 leaves 211
470 yard leaves 205
427yards leaves 162
433 yards leaves 168
457 yards leaves 192
430 leaves leaves 165
427 yards leaves 162

that is some lond yardage into the greens and as you said she has a great short game but having to use it like she will have to will put alot of pressure on it

imo i just dont see where she will have many chances to make birdies and even if she plays well and makes alot of pars , the cut will be tough.
historically 1-3 over par makes it here and that will be very tough .
i see about 148 as her two round total

people keep talking about this course being shorter
which is true for a pga tournament..
but if you look at the lpga tournaments, the courses they play are in the 6100 to 6400 yard range

for example the womens open was played at colonial in 1991 at a yardage of 6340 yards and a par of 71
and won with a score of 283 which is three over the par the men play the course to.
the men play the course at 7080 yards and a par of 70

600 yards is one heck of alot

she will , imo, have a very tough time making cut

Sea,

Pavin played with Beem on Friday when I followed him. I swear, I've never seen anyone get it up and down as much as he does. But then I've never seen any miss as many greens as he does. His short game is unbelievable, at least it was on Friday.

One thing I keep seeing and don't agree with is Annika has a good short game. She doesn't. And she's not a great putter either. On the ladies tour she hits a lot of greens and doesn't have to chip much. Her sand save % last year was hideous.

Sea,

Sorry about the confusion. Pavin missed a lot of greens on Friday. He might have hit 8 in regulation but he gets it up and down a lot. If it's windy on Thursday in Ft Worth I'd take Corey over her just due to the fact his short game is so much better than hers. It was blowing 15-25 on Friday at the Nelson and he shot 72, I think.
