tony...

i grabbed soliman myself....i talked to a few european guys and an aussie or two....and they think, that although soliman isn`t great skill-wise,he`s a gamer and is on an incredible roll...this is also a revenge bout...

here`s some comments from some of these guys...
..............................................

""""jr(me)....... these guys fought once before in joval`s backyard.....and he squeeked by......

soliman has some losses but many are close....most to very solid european competition....

this one`s in california....no advantage that i can see for joval this time....

looks to me like the aussie soliman has been on a recent roll...he`s five years younger....and professes to want payback very badly...and at first blush, looks to have the better resume....

aussies.....anyone that`s schooled on these guys.....any opinions....

i`m thinking about going over 11.5 and taking soliman at +150....actually,i already parlayed the over 11.5 with the over in the niida/arambulet bout(it`s in already)and joel casamayor.....

thanks...

I know a fair amount about Solimiman, seen him in action a few times.

I think his world ranking is somewhat elevated, I saw him have a war with an aging Neville Brown and get outclassed by Howard Eastman a few months later. Many claim that Soliman was robbed in his fight with Mundine, but I haven't seen so I cannot judge that one.

Soliman has an awkard style with bags of stamina and heart. He is not a concussive puncher, but is respectful. I'm not sure he is true world class, although the devision is poor. Soliman is a confidence fighter, who I think is really now starting to believe in himself.

Good fighter and very awkard, but not outstanding. Would get anhilated by Hopkins, but could very well beat Joval.

thanks,stu...... i really liked the over....but was a little rish for my blood........like the fact that the guy has heart....he hung in with mundine and eastman....i don`t think that joval is in either`s class.....

appreciated,bud....

jr, soliman is unique, I've never seen another boxer like him. imagine a jack-in-the-box crossed with the everaready bunny

. the guy just punches non-stop and i mean non-stop. he just throws anything, mostly no class, no pop, lots of arm punches, but always something. there is never any fake, pause, wait for the gap etc. there is a one second delay (if that), and then a punch, and then another, and then another. Add to that a strange motion, where he's bobbing up and down the whole time and he's an enormous pain in the arse to fight against. like stu said, probably a tad overrated, but stamina+ and a chance on points through sheer volume of work.

thanks,conan.....the boy`s on a bit of a streak.....and from what i`ve read,he`s going to give it hell this time....he sees this as a shot at revenge....not to mention a chance to beat a top 10`er...

it`s a bonus for soliman that he doesn`t have to fight on joval`s turf....he seems to have to play to many "away" games...

i like the guy, just from the descriptions from stu and yourself...

a damned shame that i won`t get to see it....isn`t listed as a t.v. bout, even tough they`re fighting in "whine and cheese crowd" country(california)....

again,thanks for the info...appreciated..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

actually,i just found out that this will be shown on delayed basis on fox sports net....(the max kellerman replay thing)....

the side is a medium play for me...and have the over hooked up in parlays....

keeping my fingers crossed....

thanks,tony....very glad you like it....makes me feel more secure....

g.l.

btw..taking a small shot at andres pacheco vs yori boy camapas..i wouldn`t recommend anybody throw real money at this....pacheco`s no great shakes....and rodney jones, who is very good, gave him a solid beating last time out...and a different style, more of a boxing style, would be much better than pacheco`s vs campas...but,i have to believe that campas is one of the most ponderous, slow guys i`ve seen recently...the guy has been in to many wars...always takes to many punches....looks to me like he`s hitting the wall...even though he`s coming off a one round win....

small at almost 3-1...

to many dogs?......yeah,probably....not going overboard...

Thats the first time I've seen Ebo Elder. I'm impressed. However, those scores were ridiculous. The fight was pretty close.

As far as parlays go, I'm going to hook up
Hernandez and Soliman. I saw Hernandez here in
silicon city( more fake breasts in Vegas than
on the rest of the planet) and he is a gamer.
We are back to Morales who IS NOT invincible.
A hi-line pro, but Hernandez is a tremendous
value here. Morales is tough as nails we all know, but I feel Hernandez will give it everything he has and then some.

This is from fightnews

Three time world champion Erik "El Terrible" Morales is having some of his best sparrring sessions in a long time according to reporters who have visited with the WBC super featherweight champion over the last two weeks in the gym at the Otomi in the Mountains of Toluca, Mexico.

Morales had some great and spirited sparring sessions with world ranked lightweight Antonio Pitalua, a world ranked Colombian boxer who is a long time resident of Mexico City.

Morales and Pitalua have reportedly held nothing back during their encounters. Youngsters Alejandro Medina and Rodrigo Juarez were also working with Morales and Alvaro Aguilar is expected in this week.

Morales says he feels very good about his preparation.

"I'm used to working in the rain and it has being raining almost daily here. But I feel that I'm rounding into shape very well"

Morales discribed a typical day for him during training:

"I get up for my run at about seven in the morning, any earlier then that and it would be to cold do anything anyway. I come back to the cabin to rest and have breakfast. In the afternoon we do the hard work after two solid hours we take a shower and then go down to get something to eat at a local restaurant I eat mostly fruit. We come back maybe watch a movie or some television and then go to bed around 10:30PM. Sometimes I read before going to sleep."

Erik also spends some time on his laptop, sending and answering e-mails and keeping track of his other business interests. His boxing company, Box Latino Promotions, has two shows scheduled for this month. One in Queretaro, Mexico on July 17 and the other one in Tijuana on July 26 and he is very involved in the matchmaking.

"I hope to develop some young fighters with these shows and hopefully make boxing a little more popular in the process," said Morales.

He will face IBF junior lightweight champion Carlos "Famoso" Hernandez on July 31 at the Grand Garden Arena at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The card is billed as "Unification" and it will be telecast on HBO Pay-Per-View.

I have never even heard of this Hernandez guy until this fight.

@sphincter

looks like we are on the same side again.
your friends are spot on.
I have a felling this fight will not even be close but who knows.
BTW if you are looking for a decent parlay play take a look at Armstrong at -150 to win tour de france. If he doesnt have an accident he will win.

Hey, I watched Harris vs Urkal and Harris did not deserve that win in my opinion. You can get a fair shake in Germany. But Urkal isnt with Universum so maybe that was his problem.

Urkal outshined Harris down the stretch of that fight a little and thats why Harris dosent want to go back and fight him again. He knocked Urkal down in round 2 or 3. Urkal was lunging in because he was having trouble with Vivians reach but once he adjusted he did just fine with him. If they fought again I would bet Urkal and I think Harris knows he probably couldnt beat him if he goes back.

By the way I went to Golden Boy Promotions site and it was funny. I found out why Juan "Pollo" Valenzuela pulled out of that Cotto fight. Take a look at his pictue on the site. It's gross. I cant believe they put that picture up.
Actually its really damn funny, they try to airbrush over the bottom of the picture in an attempt to conceal his pregnancy.

I aw Harris-Urkal and thought Harris won. He's not fighting Urkal because he's fighting Hatton which makes sense. Hatton is the #1 contender in the WBA so he was going to have to fight him anyways.

Well, so far this set of selections is 5 of 7
so far. The next two, Corrales-Freitas and
Morales-Hernandez are a tad tougher. Of course
a gift was the Courtney Burton affair, but such
is life. By the way I don't know if I posted
Raheem-Juarez, but I had Raheem for a loss.

Hey sphincter

did Soliman deliver or what ?
Joval is finished.
My Branco vs Ullrich under 11 and 1/2 cashed in also. That was a brutal KO by Ullrich one right hook and branco was out on his feet defenseless and then another right hook loaded up with everything Ullrich got and branco was gone. Ullrich got very lucky he was dominated by Brancos jab, Branco was getting cocky late in the fight he was way ahead on the scorecards.
Klose beat Trabant convincingly.
Very good weekend winners only for me and if Armstrong doesnt break his leg alot of parlays will cash in.
I hope you loaded up on Soliman.

I am flattered. This is a quality and not a quantity forum which is a good thing.
I just stumbled over + 192 for markussen against Häusler and didnt even bother because i thought it was a bad line but then i checked it on 5dimes and they have markussen at +183.
This line is way off in my opinion it should be the other way around. markussen is strong as a bull going forward all the time with ko power, he chased Ottke around for 12 rounds and looked better then most in doing so.
Häusler got a huge heart thats it, he is very hittable and he has no punching power and cant box but has the former Maske trainer Wolke who wants to teach him a boxing styyle but with no success. he was outclassed from larsen (lost all rounds) and was very lucky to get the dec in his last fight against decent henry Porras. I chashed in on larsen and i dont have to think twice to bet markussen at + 193.
I know that some bookies had total different odds for this fight but they are now off.
I still cant believe this is not a bad line, but two solid bookies have it up so i hit it.

Häusler needs alot of luck to make the distance and he needs at least two corrupt judges.
I know its germany and all but yyou have to keep it at least close and i dont see that Häusler can do it.
He gets very tense in big fights a little bit like Thorsten may (also may could box and punch)going forward without punching.
If i am very generous for Haüsler this is a pick em but 192 no way.

After reviewing the respective records of these
guys(Hauss-Mark) I am inclined to agree EXCEPT
for the venue factor. The crap we have been seeing lately (Burton-Augustus; Raheem-Juarez)
just to name two means LOOK OUT! The home cooking factor in Houston and Germany is downright scary. Going to touch Markussen.

@ sphincter

Larsen is faster and the better boxer who has faced better opposition than markussen.
Markussen is stronger and has better one punch power. I would pick Larsen over markussen. Markussen can be outboxed no doubt, but Häusler is a going forward fighter with no punch who cant box.

@ franks
If this fight would be anywhere else than germany Häuslers chances would be close to zero.
If you go just by the records i would prefer Häusler but I have seen Häusler fight and Markussen is just wrong for him. If Häusler is stupid enough to try to back Markussen up this fight is over very quick. Häusler can take a beating over 12 rounds but if he gets hit with big ones he is going two. He was knocked down at least two times.
My bet is mainly based on knowledge about Häusler being bad.
I have seen markussen once against Ottke and i liked what i saw. Good condition and busy fighter.
All the guys who know Häusler have Markussen the clear or at least slight favorite, i have not heard one opinion that believes Häusler is the favorite.
I fully reinvest my Soliman winnings.
Good luck to all of you

Thank you much for the heads-up. I haven't seen
either guy, so this is a leap of faith here. But
we all work together here to gain results and
a certain amount of trust in each other is
required to make this work. Lets hope for a good result.

If you havent seen nothing of either guy, you can watch clips of Ottke vs markussen and some häusler fights at this website :
http://www.boxen.com/themen/aktuelles/stream.php

This clips are from sauerland promotion the manager of Ottke and Häusler but they are better then nothing.
With DSL the quality is good.
The site is in german but smart guys like you should be able to figure it out. There are two versions one modem and one dsl. dsl is the second.
I hope this helps a bit.
If you have some time on your hands check out Ottke vs Mundine. Mundine stats that Ottke hits like a girl in the press fight conference. See for yourself what happens to the men. he fought a smart fight vs ottke on his backfoot young ali style.
