Browns to cut Osweiler after trade, circumventing the salary capWith the NFL having a salary floor per the CBA teams are required to spend 90% of the salary cap to be in compliance. With $90mm+ to spend the Browns took Osweiler salary from Texans to help get them closer to the salary floor, realizing they aren't gonna spend enough on FA's. This is also why Texans received nothing in the trade, they only wanted to dump Osweiler and his cap space. Their GM Sashi Brown is a moneyball guy, this is his analytics at play. Having so much space and just eating it up when you need to get players to improve, this has to be part of a plan. Do they then intend to re-sign Osweiler at a discounted rate on more team-friendly term? He still got his remaining guarantees from Texans and they didn't take a cap hit, from a business standpoint this is a savvy move yall

He may but he won't make it through a season.
exactly, eventually he is going to be sacked hard and he will roll around on the turf holding his arm, shoulder, chest, leg, ankle, foot, whatever...then he'll be helped to the sidelines and the next day we'll hear about how he's going to be out 8 weeks. Forget this guy, he is beyond done. He could be holding a clipboard on the sideline, be hit inadvertently and still suffer a season ending injury.
