Jack Nicklaus just trashed the younger guys:
"If they don't win, they still walk home with a big check," Nicklaus said. "They don't have to do some of the things the Watsons had to do, the Normans, the Lehmans, and that's to gut it out. It doesn't mean the young guys will be out of it. It just makes it appear as though the guys who have had that experience are coming to the top."
"When we played golf, it wasn't to make a living," Nicklaus said. "It was to make a name for yourself so you could make a living."
terps, a few years ago over 100 players were within 10 shots. That's when they changed the rule.
Rich Beem and Sandy Lyle and total fucking twats (I know someone on here is friends with Beem - don't take it personal). Always finish your round. If you want to WD just do it after round 1. Its an asshole thing to do to leave your group mid-round. Tough it out - take your lumps and move on. These pussies don't want to shoot 90 and get ripped. Here's an idea - play better and have some respect for the game.
from ESPN:
It was so brutal that two major champions didn't even bother to finish. Sandy Lyle stopped after 10 holes and former PGA champion Rich Beem made his exit after a 46 on the front.
"It's the greatest golf known to man," Beem said. "It was just difficult."
I walked around with my 11 year old grandson on Wednesday, when he shot 67 for nine holes in his very first golf tournament. The two kids he played with shot 41 and 43. Under no circumstance was he ever going to QUIT.At what point do you feel as though you are playing so bad that you are a distraction to your group? I mean I feel like an ass when I am having a worse day than normal and I am playing with three guys who are hitting fairways and greens. I almost feel as though my horrible play is getting in their head and I feel bad.
The best information comes from the caddies.this is the last time i believe something i read on espn, either harrington was exagerrating his injury or they made it seem worse than it was. i thought i had a edge on these matchups but it has not turned out this way. harrington's having a hell of a tournament if he is injured

ace, I feel your pain. My grandson felt the exact same way. I just made him play fast and stay out of their way.Belly- I was not implying that he should or anyone should at any point, but I know I am not good at golf. I have broke 90 only a few times, but when I am having a day when for whatever reason I am particularly BAD, I really feel as though I am more of a distraction to the others that I am playing with, especially if I do not know them and almost feel like they are secretly hoping beyond hope that I do not make the turn with them.
