Lets hope Brett does what he feels is the right thing.

Areef, the reason for two threads is that Bucsfan and myself posted threads at exactly 10:11 PM EDT. Simultaneous posts, it happens, I think a third thread appeared later.

Railbird,

I don't think the ref's will kiss anybody's ass tonight. But as I said above, I do believe Favre will play a great game.

Part of that will be his teamates and the O line. They will rise to the occasion. They will protect him tonight like never before. I feel this will be a game of emotion like one seldom seen before.

Brett himself is in shock right now, but I do believe he will be clear minded and focused tonight. Tragedies such as this take more than a few days to sink in. This has not sunk in yet for him. If he is a believer in any sense of the word, he will certainly feel his dad will be in the huddle with him and that is a powerful emotion especially since it may be true.

The problems for him will come, but not tonight and he will be riding a tremendous rush of emotion this evening.

Tragedies such as this do not sink in for days and his only thoughts tonight will be to get this done for his dad. The first thoughts a person feels in this situation are spiritual in nature and they are to memorialize the loved one any way that can be done.

The only fear in this game is that Farve may feel he is capable of doing anything. Thus, there could be ill advised throws into double coverage, even more than has been seen recently.

With all of that being said, throw out the normal unwritten rules for betting an NFL game. I have gone a bit more than my normal 2% on the Pack at -4.5. And I've done that with some re*****. For this is not a situation which I feel too proud about using as a means of trying to get an edge.

Business is business tonight. But that is a sad commentary indeed. My thoughts will be with the Farve family as I watch this game tonight.

Best thing for the emotions is an early TD Pass.

Worst thing is an INT

Tough to cap emotion on a day like this.

Giving some thought to this issue, I am struck by thinking who else in this country would be working tonight, after such a diaster happened in their immediate family. Would any normal working man from architect to zookeeper work, of course not. Would soliders in Iraq fight, no they would be given emergancy leave. Would any player in the NHL play, no again. NBA, same thing. Would any other Packer play, I doubt it. Would Raider QB Rick Mirer play under the same circumstances, probably not. The fact that it is Brett Farve, and the Packers are in a playoff battle with the Vikings, is the reason he is playing. If this happened 6 weeks ago, would Brett have played, good question, but I say no. I hope Farve does well and does'nt live to regret his decision to play at a time of terrible personal tradegy. I wish him well, and my thoughts go out to his family also.

A truly legendary performance by a future Hall of Famer - I can't imagine anyone handling that situation any better. Packer fans will remember this one for a long time. My heart goes out to Brett and his family. I'm sure Irv enjoyed this one from the heavens. Thanks Brett.
