When hitting a casino, from my experience BJ and poker are a players best chance. More skillful, better the chance.

Shuffle tracking is much more effective than card counting. In essence, you can cut out the negative clumps in a shoe and play into a positive shoe just about every time.
This is a very advanced concept and I will not elaborate on it here. But suffice to say, counting is for those amateurs that THINK they can beat the game, shuffle tracking is way beyond that.

For over 99% of you, video poker would be much more profitable for you if you lived in Vegas and learned the ins and the outs of the game.

card counting and shuffle tracking are miserable ways to make a living. You may have a +20k month followed by a -18k week. It is also no fun having to be stealth. Been there, done that, won't do it again.

I believe that a way to catch some of the good fortune of carc counting and shuffle trackign without actually doing them is by:
1. Play perfect basic at all times;
2. Play only tables with the very best rules; AND
3. Use money management, what I call escalating winning betting. Pick your base amount, increase your base amount progressively after each win and go back down to your base after each loss. You'll take advantage of the hot streaks and minzmize the cold streaks, both of which I firmly believe occur more often than randomly.

I think #3 is enough to make up for the .016% advantage the house has after 1 and 2 are applied. It also lets you 'stay in the game' longer as your'e betting small when you are cold.

Obviously this isn't as as good as card counting or shuffle tracking, but it's better than neither and it's something anyone can do.

Froggy-

I agree with some of your points while others are flawed. I'm planning on going to the Party in Vegas with a couple of GF's. Maybe you'd like to show us what a real counter is like?

Wow what an offer. But alas, I am no longer a counter, nor do I spend much time in gambling establishments. I do not find risking my hard earned bet for money against a house edge entertaining. Sportsbooks are great, but offshores are better. Not sure if I can take a full weekend off of preseason NFL. Besides, I suffer from arachniphobia. Best Wishes on your pursuit...OF

Worse yet, frogs eat spiders.

D2bets - I feel the same way (exactly) Use the ultimate strongest basic strategy, find a table with the most favorable rules for the player, and always reduce to your minimum bet after a loss. Playing this way will at least give a player the best chance of success. Counting cards is for a very small percentage of all BJ players. I remember being able to count down single and double decks at the Shoe, or Castaways to name a few, but alas those days are gone.

Froggy-

If Frogs eat spiders.....Then don't forget that spiders have eight legs to do all sorts of naughty things...As well as spinning a web of foreplay that cannot be matched.

Maybe you'll be at the bash and can show us how a real frog can ribbit and count at the same time.
