The problem is affecting a couple of Rx. advertisers (BetCRIS and DSI) both hosted by Costa Rica based Digital Solutions.

Supposedely Digital Solutions' Florida offices were visited by Feds.

I will call the BetCRIS local number in the morning during business hours and see what I can find out.

ok guys, this does not make any sense.

I posted a very logical reason why these books might not be working and provided a link which listed some of the companies providing services for these books that are shut down.

Some of the books you guys deal with get a whole bunch of services from some of the companies whose CEOs were arrested among those 27.

I still dont understand why my post was moved from the main forum.

No, you were wrong.

These are two seperate busts.

The one in NY was an ole fashioned bookie ring bust, except these bookies used computers so clients could keep track of their bets - nothing to do with offshore books or the new law.

The second bust happened after this but in Florida, according to what wil said the feds raided the isp and web providors of some books in FL. This probably has something to do with the new law. The books are probably now trying to find new hosts etc, the sky is not falling. It has nothing to do with this prolexic thing you are ranting about.

For the record..

I just spoke with BetCRIS CSD (Alex) and have been informed that restoration of telephone service is being worked on and should be accomplished within the next 36 hours. You can use email and live chat now for any questions. Online services are up and running and BetCRIS tech support is looking into why some geographical areas are not able to access the site.

FWIW. I can access the site with no problems from here in Costa Rica.

Thanks, wilheim..

no i was right. You are the one having trouble understanding the story.
And i did post digital solutions as one of the companies from which the problem might have germinated from.

The bust i posted about was the correct one and the time and other confirmations from other sources have proven me right.

I still dont know why my little coup was removed from the main forum..

I was the first to solve the possible source of the issue. Very sad that you guys cant take being beaten by an amatuer sleuth:cryingcry :cryingcry :cryingcry

It wasn't a coup of any sorts. I just felt that " BREAKING facking NEWS!!!! Online accounts for many no longer available" was a bit overboard.

Think about it.

raining on my parade yet again man?

well then lets change the title. (at the time i posted it i was in a great panic because the book where i have my largest balance was off line and i really wasnt expecting to find that news on Digital Sa and Prolexic)

we could always change the title to "possible reason why some online books are offline"

This is kinda silly, but i do feel like i hit a big story before any one got it and it got kicked off the main forum...(now i know how journalists feel when they are not given credit for their articles):cryingcry

by the way i did post in that thread that there was no need to panic because i was of the opinion that these comapanies simply provided access points for gaming sites and were not involved in the day to day actual gaming operations and money handling.

there is actually still room for a lot of debate as to where this industry is headed if providers like these are being targeted...

Though one would wonder if this only applies to playwithal and the fact that they are/were an on shore gambling operation. If thats the case then we are in the clear. If not, then this case could have consequencies that even exceed the gambling industry.

i know i know its kinda confusing now but may be a clear picture will form down the road. For now think of it this way, companies that provide internet access or software and data services have traditionally been immune from prosecution should the users of these services be found to be using these services for illegal endevours. For example microsoft cant be charged with complicity in a child porn ring if the ring used msn software and tools to setup their ring.

However, if some one at microsoft knows that this is porn ring and knowingly helps them out, then they might have some legal issues. Same case with playwithal and the peripheral companies indicted recently.

the case is bigger than just inaccessible online accounts. It might have implications that the internet world as a whole might want to look at.

(i do know of a law that protects providers and such from criminal prosecution if their services are used for illegal activities but i am not well versed on it.)

We need some lawyers in here to put light on this issue
