Hopefully Neuner doesn't have to run a penalty loop in standing position shooting otherwise she should finish ahead .

great guys, well done. i couldnt see the race, as i was at work, but i was also on our girls....reading you guy s in race-chatting is better than any live ticker....keep on going.

i expect a very strong weekend of the german s overall. they have practices hard over x-mas break and it pays already off with amazing running form...there is also hugh home advantage for them this weekend, like already last weekend...

i have friends with wednesday, thursday tickets for the relays...it must be a big,big party...

i cant forget the post race interview from roesch last week after his 2nd place where he said: "the fans are so amazing, they pushing you and sheering so loud. i dont care they are all drunk, but it s truely amazing all around the track" :drink::lol:

looking at the teams.
Russia looks strong as usual

Norway has put on the strongest team so far this season with Svendsson, OS, Bjornd and Hannevold

Austria: Their usual strong and winning line up
Germany: Roesch (solid), Stephan( solid/medium), youngster Pfeiffer (in solid form) and Birnbacher (? for me)
SWE:Ekholm, Bilson, Ferry, Bergman: good swedish line up, but not capable of making top 3
FRA: Jay, DeFrasne, Fourcade, Fourcade (lot of ?? for me)

i would rank them
1 Russia, Norway, Austria (maybe a bit behind, but after this season s results tough to go against)
4 Germany (they are coming into form and home advanatge is big)
5 Sweden
6 France

So regarding the pinny matchups that makes the following plays

Austria over Sweden @ 1.56 big
Germany over Sweden @ 1.65 medium,big
Germany over France @ 1.57 medium,big

value leans:
Austria over Norway @ 2.50
Austria over Russia @ 2.80

i think there is a real good chance Austria will beat at least one of these two.

Very tough to cap this race , so many strong teams .

15 January

Start time : 17:40 CET

Biathlon - Men: World Cup 4x7.5km Relay

Austria vs Russia

My pick is Russia to finish ahead

Odds : 1,50

Where : betandwin

5 units to win 2.5 units

I think this time Austria wont win , other teams like Russia and Norway seem to strong . What makes a big difference here to last time when Russia finished 8 seconds behind of Austria is that Tchoudov will run last and not Krouglov . At the moment Tchoudov has best running times and unlike Krouglov who wasn't able to close the gap last time Tchoudov can do if needed , Sumann is a solid guy for Austria but he is slower than the russian , last relay Tchoudov had 30 seconds better running time than Sumann . Also Iarochenko seems in good form , Tcherezov is back for Russia and should be hungry for a good showing .

i agree, brainiac...the line up should give russia the edge when it s close...so i ll stay away from the russia -austria value with Austria, but still like their chances vs. Norway, as whoever is starting for them is more prone to shooting errors than the russians.

I think it's time for Russia and Norway to finish ahead of Austria , both have very strong teams this time and the way I see it Norway isn't all that bad with shooting . So Os missed a lot in mass start but in fact he missed once in 3 shootings and 3 in one , can happen . Bjorndalen doesn't look as bad as I thought , he did run a penalty loop last relay but I've seen why , he shot very fast trying to close the gap to Germany and it backfired but in no way he does run penalty loops in prone position shootings when you get 3 extra shots in relay . He came back strong tho with 18/20 performance in Mass start and 3rd place . Both Hanevold and Svendsen should have no trouble with shooting and I dont see Os running a penalty loop either , last relay Bratsveen was worse than Os can do by far .
I think Mesotitsch is struggling at the moment for Austria , 6 errors in mass start and 3 in sprint in Oberhof last week also he is not the fastest out there .
I think Norway finally shows a good performance today otherwise they should have nothing to count on in future relays as this is best they can offer at the moment with Svendsen , Os , Hanevold and Björndalen .

it doesnt matter..it s just a value play on austria..nothing big...at 1.7 or so..norway would be a definete play for me as well.

saying all that and your reasing for the picks, i actually like russia over norway as well...it will be close, but good chances at good odds.

i assume you fade the austrians in general today (or at least dont place a bet on them) or why is Austria - Sweden not a play... it s similar odds to russia - austria and for me ausria has bigger chance of upset in their dog-matchup than Sweden.

Whats your view of sweden and france team...similar to mine?

I think this Sweden team looks very solid and they might even upset Austria . First two guys were very solid last week in relay , other 2 guys messed it all up tho and this is why Sweden finished so bad BUT they were without their best two : Ferry and Bergman and they will run this time instead of the other two who both ran penalty loops last week .
France with their usual team but these guys struggle , they changed their ski brand and coach says they will need more time to get used to them , hopefully next event he said .

To Austria vs Sweden

Ekholm was 7 seconds better than Mesotitsch = even , no edge here
Nilsson vs Pinter = edge to Pinter but not more than 10-15 seconds if even that
Ferry + Bergman vs Eberhard + Sumann = I think this is even if not the edge to Sweden

This is why I didn't take them , but just my opinion , Austria has an awesome team and the right fav in this h2h . I think Sweden is not without the chances here if first two finish solid .

Austrian coach :

We'll be very satisfied if we finish in the top three, the other teams seem to be getting more serious with the World Champs drawing nearer."
