I'm starting to wonder if some of these games are manipulated. I picked up a book on the weekend called The Fix: Soccer and Organized Crime. Lots of fixes in soccer according to this book, including Ghana throwing games against Italy and Brazil in the 2006 world cup

I wondered this too, especially with the Eastern European teams. The Super Cup match really made me think of it if you think of how much money was bet on that match alone.
