Its a regional game. Thats why in a Vegas casinos in October you will have 1 person watching the Reds and Braves in a playoff game, and 97 people watching a game with two 1-6 teams on Sunday night football.

Good luck to you Blue, and I'd say it's the same decision that most of us should probably be making as well.

I doubt too many of us when we are old and gray will look back on our lives and say we'd wished we had spent more time gambling or researching games.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Good Luck Blue and I support your decision fully. I disagree though that you should visit here regularly if you are 100% committed to stop for good. I didn't tell anyone this until now, but a while back I stopped and didn't lay one wager for approximately 3~4 months, but I still visited here, and reading and hearing about gambling and betting here just creates a small "itch" , that needs to be scratched, especially if your a sports~lover to begin with. If we see you back here Blue, no problem, we won't even mention anything about this. Well, at least the majority of us won't. I'm sure you'll have some jerks making comments that "I thought you were going to quite Blue, knew you couldn't", but that won't come from most of us..........

thanks for the support guys. hache, i know exactly what you mean but, i don't think i can go cold turkey on the r/x...just the gambling. i agree that it may create an itch to gamble again but, i'd like to think i have more will power than to give in.

its going to really be a test if some of the futures come in...then i will have a big balance at a couple of books. i have to go right to the neteller window without checking any lines...that will be judgement day.

anyway, i'll still be around a couple times a week. my best to all of you...even railbird who, for some reason always brings up barry bonds and jews

Always do what you think is best when you get that knowing feeling.

You may well find a future time when making a wager is good. Until then, do other things that bring you pleasure and have more good times than not.

blue edwards,

Nothing wrong with hanging it up for awhile. Clean the mind and take a look from the outside.

I take breaks from gambling all the time! I'm considering a break after the Kentucky Derby, as a matter of fact. It takes alot of time to properly gamble and in the warmer months, I enjoy spending extra time with the kids, gardening, cooking, and going to the Speedway with my husband! It is hard to keep up with all that when you are gambling alot! It takes a long time to make speed figures and keep track of trainer records, key races, and watching endless hours of race replays. I don't bet on sports, just horses, but I imagine that it is very time consuming as well. I still play occasionally during the summertime, but very casually! Your wife will probably appreciate the extra time with you!

It is kind of tough when one spouse enjoys gambling, but the other isn't into it. My husband doesn't gamble much, maybe an occasional $5 parlay, LOL, but he doesn't seem to mind that I do and I'm thankful for that. It is a drag when we go to Las Vegas and he is practically in tears because he lost $20 in a slot machine!

Good Luck Blue,

I had pretty much had the same feeling towards the end of last May. I can relate my friend. Was really burned out and beginning to lose not a lot but steady because of stupid decision making. Still I craved action. So I found a new game.

I did not place a wager for two months last summer. It was really easy to do as I bought a cheap stock car to run at the local track and man that was action a plenty. I seriously encourage anybody to give that a try if you need a break from gambling and if you ain't no uppity mucky muck. Its a gas. If you are competitive by nature as of course we all are, you will have a thrilling experience. Did not log on to any gambling forums [was a steady lurker back then], instead obsessively spent my time on various auto racing forums and working on the car. Man I was addicted to this new challenge. Replacing one addiction with another isn't always a bad thing if the new one is not destructive. For me it was necessity.

Ended up blowing the engine. Gave up as the money was all going in and none was coming back. Two days later funded one account again. Began to win steady but slow. Well you know the result of that. I'll tell you though, the two months off with my mind completely elsewhere allowed me to later assess what had been going wrong and man it was not luck. It was all me doing things I knew not to do years ago. Kind of like I stepped out of myself and could see how pathetic my decision making had become during the last couple of months.

Eventually sold the car minus engine, trailer, fire suit and all. Been OK ever since. Had a brief period of perceived burnoutitis right after the new year though. Managed to work through it.

Certainly good luck with your decision and really try to find something you can be passionate about in the meanwhile. I think that is the key. I wonder sometimes if that engine didn't blow or if I knew Shrink real well and could could have gotten enough RX sponsorship [the hood and every other part of the cock-sucker was available] to get a new engine, if I would even be back where I am.

In my case it worked out for the best. Mrs. Jones is very supportive in all my decisions and endeavors even though I am a bit manic at times, but I am at peace with myself and all those around me.

Stay away from here at least for a while Blue. That of course is in your best interest not ours. Gook Luck to one of the good guys. You being back eventually is a good bet. But if and when you do you'll feel like a new man. And you will WIN again!!!GL.

And if you are not back, it's been a pleasure making your acquaintance.
