There were a fair few UK online books when I started betting in 2000, and I think that Sportingbet has been around since 1998 as well as that was one of my first books

CRIS was I believe the first or one of the first. They were taking phone bets before the internet.

Anyone remember Aces Gold??? What a story that was!!

Aces Gold - never have the misfortune to have an account there, but whenever anyone asks me and good gambling stories that is the first one that springs to mind !

Shortly followed by the UNLV or Nevada NCAAF game that was abandoned after the power went out a minute of so before the gam would have been official for betting purposes. Cant fully remember the details but there was a huge gamble on the game, which was getting hammered and suddenly a car crashed into the electricity substation for the stadium and the power went out !

I think Intertops (sp) may have been one of the first.

Pinny was my first in like 2004. I was late to the game though. I sent them a cashiers check for 5k thinking there was no way I would lose betting into -104 and 8 cent bases.

My account was at zero the next day LOL.

I remember playing at Intertops as early as 1999.

I remember MVP bets. Damn I didnt even know they were closed.

They ended up in the BOS family back in early 06 after founder and CEO Dalton Wagner sold out to BetonSports a few months before BOS shut their doors. If my memory serves me right I believe that my MVP balance ended up( fortunately) with BetCris which eventually ended up at Bookmaker.

Other books off the top of my head that are no more where I used to play;

Millenium
Grande
Majorbetting
Nine.com
Players Super Book
Playersonly.com
Sirbet
USSportsbook
VIP

Between '02 and '06 I think I played just about everywhere at one time or another. I think 2/3 of them are no longer around or got consolidated.

Grande is still open. It just doesn't have a post up side anymore.

Caribi used to be one of the more serious books around and then took the dive. very good and big at one time. What happened to some of the guys?Al Corbo used to really push them. They could have had an interest. They had some sharp numbers

Anyone remember sportsbettingtrivia or mvpbets?

There was mvpbets and betmvp which were different, right?

I remember one time at mvpbets their casino software went crazy and credited everyone with random amounts of money.'

My balance went from like $300 to over $4,000.

They had it corrected the next day, but I had been playing in the casino and had won over $2,000.

They couldn't determine what was fair since I had $300 in there to begin with and let me keep half of it......

ESB was the first book for me. Someone clued me in that they were not a book I should be at, so I asked for a payout which I never receved. Bowmans was my second book. I remember they took forever to move to online wagering. I remember calling up to listen to those British girls recite the lines. WWTS was one of my favorite books, was very sorry to see them go.

Amybody ever play at SOS (sportsoffshore)? I remember having to download software just to access their online offerings. I think they may still be around.
