Dave most people don't realize how many US troops would be needed in that region were Israel not there. Sometimes I think the US is playing all sides, aligning with the Saudis in one area and against them in another for instance. Cooperating with Russia on one issue and scolding it over another. Putting pressure on Israel to weaken itself against the Palestinians who are ruled by terrorists, yet relying on Israel's military to clean up terror camps.
There will always be disagreements between the US and Israel. Not when it comes to US security though. Israel is killing a lot of animals over there that want to kill a lot of people over here. So is Egypt actually at the present time.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan falls without Israel's presence, although they still hate Israel and the king is always dicking them over in the media. Nice, huh? Without Israel Jordan becomes Jihadistan.
Conspiracy theorists always bleat that Israel runs US' policy when actually it's the other way around. If Obama makes a call and tells Netanyahu to attack a Syrian post they will do it. They already did a few weeks ago when too many mortars came across the border.
Israel should respond to every attack, rocket, bomb, etc with overwhelming force. It's the only way to win a war. It doesn't happen because the far left always howls about it (because terrorists love to embed themselves, their rocket launchers and their bomb making equipment in populated areas), and then the US tells Israel to put the velvet glove back on. This shit in the ME will outlive us and our children, Lock City!
