I went to Oregon class of 2004, but it is kind of hard to keep up with them where I am now. Costa moves good, right? Not a Dixon, but maybe comparable to Locker or Tebow's speed? I know he isn't as big as either of them but I have heard he is quick.

Costa is not as fast as Locker or Dixon not sure about Tebow's real 40 time so don't have a clue there. But he is fast, 4.6 40. He is 6'1 and very sturdy, has big thighs like Locker. He has been running the spread since highschool and he just gets it. He understands how to read the defenses quickly and exploit them with his feat if there is nothing else available. He is also an exceptional passer with great accuracy. He was in a very real battle with Dixon last year to become the starter and if Dixon had struggled the coaches were ready with a short leash, I know most will find that hard to believe.

His biggest asset however is his leadership. He has very much taken control of this offense during the offseason.

All that said, I fully expect the Ducks to run the ball on UW all day on Aug. 30 while Costa gets adjusted. With LG and JJ running the ball the huskies should not have much to stop another huge game for the ducks offense.

good to see a fellow alumni here.

UoD, do you have an assessment of UO's DL, especially at the DT position? I have heard that if there's a weakness to be found, it would be vs the rush up the middle... so I've heard. Their DE's are tight but it would be useful to know what to expect when they play against teams with strong OL's and a good vertical rushing attack. Not that it worries me much about the UW game, but I know UW's OL should be very good, especially on the inside.

You are right, UO's DE's both seniors are exceptionally good with one all-american potential in Nick Reed and all-conf potential in Tukuafu.

At DT they have experience returning in both seniors Linehan, and Harris. Behind them the only questions were depth as Allioti likes his DT's to rotate, both Toeina and Colleto have skills but the ducks are relying on 5 star JC recruit Justin Thompson to arrive. Unlike Simi Kuli, the stud OSU DL JC commit, I hear that Thompsons arrival is imminent as all he had to do is pass an art class.

As for UW's line, it is probably their best unit but I think the injury to Garcia, center, is huge.

Mark it down, they will beat Oregon at home. A definite winning margins play for me.

The last I heard about Garcia is that he will be ready in fall camp to practice, however he will likely miss the first 2 or 3 games. It might be a good idea to rethink some things when he returns. As a group UW's OL's are some pretty huge specimens. I think among the largest in the country. One of them gained about 30 lbs up to about 350 now and his BMI was actually leaner than last year. I forget his name offhand but UW'S OL might be the key to some unexpected things happening provided that they come up with a runner other than Locker who can pound the ball. They will be well tested before Garcia comes back. That's for sure. It should be interesting to see what happens.
