I also was at the Who2BetOn show last year and had a great time. Their gig was more of a get together of site owners and people who visit the sites involved. Was a great time.
Nothing personal to many people on this site, but you are not their target audience anyway. It is not a tech conference breaking down scalps and the true value of a 1/2 point. For site owners and industry people it a chance to meet and greet outside of emails and IMs. It gives a chance for the people who toss $20 on a game and handicap from tout sheets to listen to some people they watch on TV.
In regards to Feist and Root, I aqree w/ MC again. It is not a moral conference, but a handicapping conference. Outside of a few movers, not too many of the SHAPRS anywhere can ever claim they made or will make what those two bring in. Would I listen to them about how to handicap a football game? Hell no. But would I listen to them in regards to marketing in this business before almost anyone? Without a doubt. Fact remains, there are alot of services on the web monitors that have incredible records but can't afford double cheese on their pizza. Root once told a guy I met in the business, "it is 90% marketing and 10% handicapping." Could a service who is solid and/or honest benefit from hearing these two talk on marketing? I think it is hard to say it would be a waste of time.
I regret having to pass this year on attending, because a friend of mine really wanted an autographed Joe Montana football. It will be a great time and BoDog will put on a great show. Yes, Bodog is an advertiser of mine, but people bashing this event baffle me.
