>Frank - how recent was this?

Several months ago... Before you became a Mod.

I *think* you replied to the thread though.

>Could be a ton of other reasons not to like them

lakerfan,

I agree... Too many 'small' reasons, not to play into BoDog, add-up to a big reason NOT to use them.

Okay Frank, thanks.

Peep - I do give them the thumbs up. What I was told to look into was almost comical. Easy win for BoDog. If they did go under I will be wrong, dead wrong. I'm no fortune teller but don't think anyone has any worries about getting stiffed here. Anyway I hear you Peep and like you I wish all the books were above reproach.

They can't all be Pro 5's I guess.

They weren't fired? See I didn't know that. This is why I didn't want to comment on this yet. This was before my time. Anyway I thought I heard the employees had gotten fired, I believe you if you know otherwise....

No one will argue with you about it Players. If they do it won't be me. I have no idea what all went on here. If you can share more it would be great, if not we understand. Turns out to be a pretty interesting thread after all....

Patrick, Sorry, I was referring to Peep's questions.. basically, is it ok to cancel bets on an event that has already taken place and the results are known, using the excuse that the event had already taken place and the results were already known?

Also, how could this just slip by for 3 seasons of the show? My hunch is Bodog let it slide for the first 2 years because the novelty of the prop and the "free advertising" factor (news services picking up on it) outweighed the payouts, including those to "insiders". And of course, the big expose story.. the grand finale of the free global "advertising". "We wuz ROBBED.. all bets are OFF!"

To act surprised and appalled that CBS employees took a shot at them is stupid. They are sportsbook operators, whom I have found to be among the most suspicious people in the world.

Peep's other questions were relevent too. Did Bodog give up the names of the shot-takers and get them fired?

Did they indeed take dime shots on a game that had already been played? It was my understanding that these "fun" bets were limited to much lower limits than dime bets.

BTW according to Players no one got fired over this. I have to believe him because he said he knew for sure. I am very surprised this HUGE stink is just leaking out now!?!? Something else I can add to my list to look into....

I might add a few pertinent facts to this whole situation in a few days, but first I will need to withdraw my money from bodog I suspect. I will say this, bodog isnt as innocent in this thing as it appears

Okay Players, would be appreciated. As I said I will make a point to look into this as people are just now getting extremely worried about this!!! I don't want these people to be worried about their money.

BTW I would advise in the future to pull your money out if a book does something you think is this outrageously wrong! Why did you stay funded all this time Players? You seem to be on the inside of all this, you never thought to get out of this book with all your concerns? Anyway thanks for the help on this, believe me I could use it as I have a lot of old issues to look into.

I do not personally think that makes them a sick puppy, but I agree on this issue,.

That is a really solid point, I think I am converted.

Well, now you are aware of it.

They took the bet.

Do you think they should have paid it? Where I come from, you book a bet you pay it.

its too bad you dont come from where ANY offshores are located.....the old you book it you pay it shit.....nice concept.....but it has never been that way...and never will be that way....

Pat, the thread caught my eye this morning.. what can I say? I don't watch much TV, but I've hardly missed an episode of Survivor since it's inception. The CBS scam/allegations pretty much ruined it for me this season. I didn't even watch the final episode. (It was difficult enough on Thursday nights to keep clevfan from im'ing me the "east coast" results before showtime!)

Anyway, I knew posting here about this was slippery slope territory, and I wasn't trying to put you on the spot, so I'm done with it.

For the record, here's how Intertops dealt with it. I'm not sure about WWTS.

quote:
7 April 2003

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua – (Press Release) --Online sports book Intertops.com is keeping the betting torch alight on the hit CBS TV show "Survivor: The Amazon" despite allegations of insider knowledge.

Alleged heavy betting from CBS employees on both Matt and Jenna has prompted some sports books to cancel all betting on the latest installment of the reality TV show.

Intertops.com was the first online sports book to offer betting on reality TV with the very first Survivor show and is reacting to this `scandal’ by offering even more action on the antics from Amazon.

`There has been some heavy action on Matt and Jenna, which is why we have created some exciting new bet offers around these two,’ said Intertops.com Chief Bet manager Michael Maerz.

`Throughout the history of this program, there have been upsets. The decision about who is the ultimate survivor is made live on television -- which should eliminate any chance of scandal.

`Reality TV betting is something our customers love, and we will keep delivering exactly what they want. That's why our book remains wide open on the outcome of Survivor VI,’ he said.

Think you know the outcome? It's a jungle down there...

Survivor VI: Jenna v Matt - Who will Survive the longest?

Jenna -120

Matt -120

Survivor VI: Who will Survive without Jenna & Matt?

Rob +175

Alex +250

Heidi +250

Deena +350

Butch +450

Christy +525

Survivor VI: Will the winner be male or female?

Male -120

Female -120

PAT, I never said that I wasnt paid from bodog. I didnt even say that it was me who they are referring to. I just happen to know some "inside" info on this case and bodog is exaggerating this issue and is wrong on many fronts here!

ONE HELL of a great job in advertising though! That is all that this was, ADVERTISING!!!

Yes, some of us did have Jenna from about 3 in the season, but not neccesarily for the reason taht bodog gives us credit for.

But if my email customers will remember last year sometime in October i believe, I gave you guys the winner of the survivor 2 seasons ago when he was about 3 to 1 and there was about 8 weeks left in the show. Of course, most of them probably didnt bet it, but lets just say that the "surviver secret" isnt as well kept as everything thinks. The same people who know the survivor info also know who wins the AMAZING RACE and other ABC shows as well!!!

I cant explain how, but it isnt from DIRECTLY working CBS!

No problem Minnow, you are always welcome to post here. As I said since people are bringing up this issue again (and I am mostly unfamiliar with the whole thing) I will look into it.

One more thing for the inbox won't kill me.
