One thing I do not understand is why we never hear in such situations the reality that when a guy makes a conscious decision to rob someone and especially when that involves entering someone else's property that he has made a choice to do a thing that could lead to him getting shot.

Why does that never ever get mentioned?

Skier runs onto a tree, Skydiver dies, Base Jumper even Motocross riders any of those die as a result of their choice to partake in that activity people understand death could be an outcome of their choice.

Choosing to be a Criminal could very well lead to your ass getting shot.

If these Black Lives do in fact actually "matter" so much why then would they not seek to do something more positive with said Lives? To make less terrible decisions?

Like....this kid just no way whatsoever he could have gone out and gotten a job right?

That was just a complete and total impossibility.
