When Brooks talks, he almost sounds content.
He is proud of his work on the football field and in the community, where his Aaron Brooks Family Foundation has pushed for literacy and raised money for books in the inner city.
"Hopefully I get that call, but I won't let this situation control who I am," he said. "Football doesn't define me. It is just a part of my life."
The other part of Brooks' life involves time as a developer in Virginia. He said there are plans in store for him and some partners to redevelop part of downtown Newport News.
He still recalls vividly how he threw interceptions in big games and laughed as he danced off the the field. How he sat on the bench during defense never speaking to teammates or looking at defensive photos..How he would change the play in the huddle only get to the line and run the original play or hand the ball off to the wrong back then scream at the bench to take out the off lineman who missed a block he didnt know he was supposed to make.. And ofcourse how the ball would just fall out of his hand with no contact whatsoever in key situations........followed by more laughter..
He still has the pictures of Hasllet exiting a motel rm at 4am that kept him in the league years longer than he should have been.

The Steelers chose Byron Leftwich over Daunte Culpepper in part because Culpepper wants a chance to compete for a starting job.

Then why did he fly to LaTrobe to try out for the Steelers? If Culpepper believed he was going to be competing for Ben Roethlisberger's job, then his grip on reality is even more tenuous than we thought. Until he comes to grips with the past few seasons of his career and accepts a backup job, he's going to be out of work.

Brooks is inaccurate.

Culpepper will never be the same QB prior to the knee injury+ it really looks like Randy Moss was responsible for those number he put up in Minny.

Leftwich is slow, dumb, and holds the ball too long. He is lucky Chuck Batch just got hurt otherwise hed still be in the unemployment line.

I guess Vince Young, Donovan McNabb, David Garrard, and Jamarcus Russell are white.

Getting analysis from Shaun King on Qb'ing is like getting Martha Stewart to explain the US Foreign Policy.

Shaun King got cut from the worst Arena football team in the history of the league last year (Las Vegas). He should be nowhere near this discussion.

Ahhhh, might be the worst analogy I have ever heard. Shaun King was a QB, Martha was not a politician. But it did make me laugh.

That's a bunch of hogwash. The last q.b to get "blackballed" was Kordell Stewart and that was by choice.:hump:

And I guess watching him play in the NFL from your couch makes you more qualified?

theres only 3 or 4 good quarterbacks in the entire league. the game is won with the run game primarily. all a QB has to do is hand it off

A race baiting article. A real idiot to be sure wrote the article. To insinuate that if Rodgers is an NFL QB, then the 3 chimps should be too is assinine.

Getting Old Is For The Birds

all this PC crap is BS. Tell it like it is, the majority of the blacks playing QB are in that position because of their superior athletic ability, see M. Vick. It sure as hell isn't because of their FB acumen. Which includes the most important aspect of the position and the reason most fail: intelligence which includes being able to read the D. Vikes Jackson a good example, fast, strong, strong arm, can't make a smart decision under pressure to save his ass. The same w/Culpepper when he was here. Most blacks and their advocates still don't understand this. They wonder why some white guys w/lesser athletic abilities get the chance. Starr, Tark, Montana, etc. none had a true gun for an arm but all are legit HOF QB's. Now is that racist or reality? I do think McNabb is a legit big time QB, also Garard seems to fit the bill also. NO IMO Russell won't make it.

NFL- Castaways: Culpepper, Brooks and Leftwich Don't Get The Calls

ATTENTION NFL GM's: If you can recycle all the Brunells and Testerverdes in the NFL, why not give Culpepper, Aaron Brooks and Byron Leftwich a chance? At least as a backup!
by Kyle T. Mosley

July 23, 2008:
Question: How does Aaron Brooks, Daunte Culpepper and Byron Leftwich go without an NFL QB job when the league has a Brodie Croyle (Kansas City), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay), or an Alex Smith in San Francisco with QB jobs?
None of these guys, with the exception of Smith, has fared well in the NFL - Especially Brady Croyle!
Let's face facts, Aaron's Leadership qualities (lack of) and outspokenness were his downfalls. Culpper's injury and Sex Boat scandal has been his legacy. And, poor Byron Leftwich is too injury prone. However, if you can recycle Brunell and Testerverde, why not give these "once productive" NFL QB's a chance? Heck, even David Carr is a backup! At least give them a chance as a backup! Each of these QB's have thrown over 20 Touchdowns in multiple seasons. Culpepper is arguably the best of this group.

What's really behind the "blackballing"? Is it because they are "Black" and the NFL GM's can't figure them into the programs? Or, can't they figure out how they can "Ball"?

Here's excerpts from the NOLA.com's article echoing my sentiments:

Aaron Brooks keeps a low profile these days. He spends his mornings working out, fine-tuning his physique, perfecting his three- and five-step drops, sharpening his rifle-like right arm. He's aware it might be all for naught.

"Blackballed might be too strong a word, " said ESPN analyst Shaun King, a former Tulane and NFL quarterback. "But if you really are objective, the facts point to it must be something. It's outside of normal when you look at the way that some of the quarterbacks are recycled. If you look at the rosters right now - and I don't want to call specific guys' names, but if you look at the rosters in the National Football League and then you ask yourself based on accomplishment alone a- how is an Aaron Brooks or a Daunte Culpepper or a Byron Leftwich or a Shaun King, for that matter, not somewhere?"

Whoever edited this shitty column needs to lose his job. Even if this is a blogger or some shit that is ridiculous.

.. Just another example of Blacks blaming race when it has nothing to do with the real truth..>
btw; I think some of this backfires; as some in power positions now will avoid Blacks; as anything happens ; then Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton; etc. , will show up demanding retribution....
