Commodore,
You're entitled to your opinion. But it fit a very strong situational play that didn't work out today. I'm up 60+ units, playing practically every game for 1U, since June 4. Thats around 100 days, up 60+ units. I doubt you can find one handicapper on this forum that has done that over that period of time.
I had a play a few months ago, played Minnesota at a big price vs Cleveland. PW on the other side, everyone thought that was a silly bet too, how could I go against PW. It was silly, until Minnesota beat the shit out of them that night.
Baseball is an odds game, and I would make that very same bet tomorrow. I don't buy into the extra motivation theories. This team "must win", a good team will beat a bad team late in the season because the bad team "has nothing to play for". It is this line of thinking that makes people say silly things, like baseball can't be played late in the season. I'm up around 25+ units this month, making my "silly" bets.
Chicago won because they jumped on Leake early and Arrieta pitched a great game, not because they possessed some super powers based on wanting to keep a rival out of the playoffs. Every game between these teams is big, I don't buy the "keeping a team out of the playoffs so lets play even harder today theory." They've won 90+ games, they won because they are good and played like it.
Go over my plays the last 3 months, or this month, and find the plus money dogs that have won. Plays people would pass because they won't try and beat chalk.
Good Luck Vanderbilt this Saturday.
