I sure hope so. Charleston is about 3.5 to 4 hours from Athens. I dont get a chance to get back for many games, but there is a pretty big following down here. I have to deal with way too many Gamecock and Tiger fans, but I wouldnt choose to live anywhere else.

I agree. I lived in Charleston (on Orange Street, south of Broad) for a long time and loved it. It is actually the only city I would consider moving back to.

I will be in Charleston the last week in August travelling to both Columbia for the Gamecocks opener then off the Athens for the Dawgs opener. Gotta love college ball, baby! Thanks for the help.

Not a problem. Columbia is about an 1.5 to 1.75 hours from Charleston, then to get to Athens, it's not bad at all. Enjoy the games!

Have you ever been to a game at either place?

Never have; extremely excited, I love the SEC. Still looking to get tickets. I dont think it will too tough, however dont want to pay an arm and a leg. Most expensive ticket i've purchased was three years ago Ohio State vs. Notre Dame at the Fiesta bowl; it was $200.

Ive been to Charleston a couple of times; gorgeous city. Looking forward to checking out Columbia and Athens as well.

Nice. Charleston is awesome. It's really nice to be able to live in a place that so many people come to for vacation. I live about 5 minutes from the beach, so you can't beat that.

As far as cities go, Athens is much better than Columbia. However, I hate to admit that the ability to tailgate close to the stadium is better in Columbia than in Athens.

Both will have great atmospheres for the game. I am partial to the stadium in Athens as it has more of a college feel vs. Columbia, which reminds me of a pro stadium.

5 from the beach, wow, im jealous! Folly beach? I hear the SC fans (by reputation only) tailgate a little harder than the Dawg fans, is that true? Funny enough, ive heard the same thing re: the stadiums. Some states, Michigan in particular, do not serve alcohol inside the stadium itself, is that the case with Georgia or SC?

5 minutes from Sullivan's Island. Great location. The tailgating is just simply different. At UGA, it can be difficult to find parking that is close to the stadium unless you get there at least 6-7 hours before gametime, sooner for night games. At USC, there is a ton of places to tailgate that are centralized as they have 1) a huge fairgrounds right next to the stadium, 2) several other spots that are surrounding the stadium for parking.

I wouldnt necessarily call one tailgating better though. Both schools know what is going on. No alcohol inside either stadium either, which sucks. I dont think any college stadium allows that, but I could be wrong.

Furman, funny you should ask. If you ever get that that feeling to come and watch the powerful Big East, Syracuse serves beer.LOL! Guess they need something to cheer about with that program. I think its done on a state by state mandate.

I would like to get tickets and have had success in the past with securing a good price with scalpers prior to gametime. I would ideally like to sit in the student section. Any pointers, or thoughts?

Indeed. Right before the Ben Sawyer Bridge heading to Sullivans. Probably about 5-10 minutes at most from your house. Do you ever make it down here BB?
