I've heard that the state (mn) is in a good place as far as producing talent in the next few years. That might help them, but Im of the same mindset that Kill isnt going to be landing any top 25 classes, at least of a consistant basis. Big chunks of the big ten just got really good at the recruiting game, all in the east, but that still affects the west. Nebraska is too early to tell at which level, but it has hit the recruiting ground running at full sprint. Rather eye opening to be honest. So Kills going to have to continue his model of overacheiving and hope that when he has success, some program doesnt come and nab that DC. Staff stability will be huge for them, imo.

Speaking of Nebraska and the recruiting game, we will see just what the staff is made of with a head 2 head battle with Alabama for the rights to 4* RB Jordan Stevenson, who could not get admited to Wisconsin (remember why Gary Anderson left?). He's good enough that he could push to play now at NU, for Alabama he's the changeup back they need.

Visiting Nebraska this weekend. Sounds like he wants to go to Nebraska, but mom is favoring Bama. Will be very interesting.

RE the Gophers, read somewhere that their projected recruiting class was ranked #25 for next year.....maybe someone from the Gopher publicity department wrote the article....hehe. What I read is that they have the number one ranked linebacker coming in, and a pretty good quarterback among other things.

The lost last year to the Buckeyes by 10 at home despite getting outyarded by a significant margin and have played some other very good teams like Michigan State and Wisconsin tough the last 2-3 years. They are a good under the radar team and will continue to be a good underdog bet, perhaps a bit like Vandy was when Franklin was there. I expect Wisconsin to regress to mediocrity over the next three years. Minnesota will have to develop a passing game, and this is the year whether we'll see if the coaching staff has the ability to do that or that they can only coach ground and pound which has served them well so far. Leidner showed that he can throw the ball a little in their bowl game with Missouri last year. Their first game with TCU will tell a great deal about their progress.

The power is all going to be in the East for the forseeable future with four excellent coaches and four excellent programs there.

I expect Minnesota to be 8-4 or 9-3 this year. If I am in the minority about them progressing to the top of the West in the next three years, we'll then that's what makes a market, right?

I expect them to beat Wisconsin for the first time in a million years at home in November.

That's a lot of expecting, especially concerning the downfall of Wisconsin. Minnesota might get that win for the first time in over ten years, but I wouldn't expect Wisconsin to slip very far as long as Alvarez is in charge. Chryst is a better fit at Wisconsin than he ever was at Pitt. The Wisconsin program is up and running, it just needs a guy to oil the gears and not get fucking cute.

sounds like a PR person trying to get a pay raise :)

Rivals has them sitting #42 right now for next year although they do have a rare 4-star verbal from LB Foster ... rated #18 OLB in the class & #212 player in nation so pretty nice grab for Minny

btw, love Kill (so according to this board that must mean we're shitting on Minnesota) but think he's 1 or, max, 2 more years there before he bangs out a bigger job. Even after the nearly 2x pay increase he is barely inside top 60 paid head coaches. If Illinois or Kansas every feel like getting serious about football, or if K State aren't going to allow Snyder's kid to take over, those would be 3 likely destinations if any of those schools want to approach the $3m/yr mark (K State already paying Snyder that amount)

Illinois is a head scratcher. They could be the dominant program in their state with a good chunk of the talent coming instate. I think they are top ten as far as producing fbs talent.
