So how is that the governments fault? The only ones who have liow personal savings and high credit balances are the irresponsible ones. I’m guessing the majority of people on this board complaining about things are doing fine. Is your savings at an all time low? Are you in cc debt? How about Festering Zit who started the thread. Are you in financial ruins right now? I doubt it. I know Willie is fine, he brags about his great life all the time.
How about the MAGA loons? Any of you guys having a hard time making ends meet? Savings at an all time low? Tons of CC debt?
It’s all the governments fault.

I’m off to enjoy life. You guys can stay here all day and bitch about how everyone’s else’s life is in ruins because of the government. Lol
at your advanced age if you still can't connect the dots to how ZIRP and uncontrolled government spending influence an economy then I'd suggest you stick with watching Golden Girls reruns after you're done checking the newspaper obituaries to see what funerals you can attend to get out of the house this week. Enjoy your $8/dozen eggs Mr "What Does the Govt Have to Do With the Economy?" LOL

Fun fact…Americans spent just under $280 million wagering on the 14 race card at Churchill Downs yesterday.

But that can’t be…Everyone is broke!

Dude you have more problems than you know. You got a neighbor taking his 8yo to a drag show and apparently you’re paying $8/dozen for eggs? Lol I paid $2.52 for a dozen and a half eggs this morning. Where the fuck do you live where you are paying $8 for a dozen eggs? Go find something else to bitch about because you are losing this battle lol.

I lost a bunch out of my 401k back in 2007-2008 during the Bush era. I’m sure a boatload more than you’ve lost this time. You’ll get it back just like I did. And I got mine all back during the Obama years and was able to retire in 2018. You guys love to bitch about stuff.

Has anyone looked at high yield savings accounts lately?

Paying over 4%

So in the past 2 years, we were able to refinance our homes to under 4% and have been able to have savings accounts that pay over 4%

For those collecting social security, that has gone up these past 2 years as well.

If you dont need to dip into your retirement accounts (they raised the minimum age), then its really not so bad

And on the plus side, i cannot remember the last time a sitting President of the United States of America ACTUALLY commented about Jimmy Kimmel's nightly ratings

It’s bifurcated, of course there are major structural issues with the economy

People doing well are doing fine, people not doing well are doing worse than they’ve done

All one can do is stay above the cracks and navigate it the best you can. But yes, the cracks are bigger, this is news to some?

Although left wing cultural/economic ideas are largely to blame, but that’s way too much to wanna bother to flesh out these days. One could easily be intentionally evasive and avoid accepting that reality.

Well, that must mean the economy is going gangbusters.

You realize that you can't refinance a home now under 4% and a 4% savings rate is lower than inflation, right?

And if you were intelligent enough to know how to "whether the storm" instead of watching "gloom and doom news" and listening to the people on here who barely graduated high school but are experts in science, history, math, and finances, then you'd be in pretty good shape.

If your mortgage interest rate is under the inflation rate, then its a GOOD thing
If your savings account interest rate his higher than your mortgage interest rate, then its a GOOD thing

Who said the economy is going gangbusters?

But keep watching your Newsmax, OAN, and Faux news by telling you that its Joe Biden and the democrats' fault on why your life sucks.

I dont think we've spoken much in the past but there are a lot of brainwashed losers in this forum. Please dont me 1 of them

People can flesh out why they think the economy isn't good or why upward mobility is stagnating. Gonna be different reasons each side gives, yaya yada but the opinion the economy isn't doing so well is certainly not a belief just held by a few people in this sub forum.

Majority of Americans of all political stripes believe this so I wouldn't just ascribe it to those watching a few select TV stations.

Our economy has been better in the past, i'm not denying this.

I also brought up 2 earlier examples over the previous 2 years on how to stay above water and to swing back.

Are you telling me that getting your mortgage under 4% and having bank accounts paying over 4% is a bad thing?

The problem is that we have subforms who follow a person or party blindly and will listen and believe everything they say

well, gotta go now. I may put the rest of my PPP/EIDL/Stimulus monies into a 5% 12 month CD

Obviously we all have agency and it is on the individual to navigate the landscape. Just saying don't think issues relating to economy/money/finances are the figment of folks imagination based on right leaning news sources. Although, the more extreme views on this probably are (i.e posters thinking US currency is going to collapse)

here is some good news:

The torrent of negative economic views spills over into American views on the stock market.

Just 24% say now is a good time to invest in stocks, the lowest reading in the survey’s 17-year history. The prior record was last quarter at 26%.

Probably means it is a good time to invest as the public is horrible at market timing regardless of their political persuasion.

I've sold some stuff (for a gain) in the last few months and havent repurchased anything. Have also put some $$ into the account without buying.

I'm sitting on cash in my account and plan on buying stuff in the next week or 2 but not sure what yet.

The good news, i really havent been losing anything as i'm earning my .00001% by having cash.

5 years ago when everyone was bragging about their 401k, i mentioned here that as long as they dont need it now, then who cares? Same thing now. If we're not taking out of it, then who really cares what its worth? The way i see it now is we can buy more shares of something in a down market.

Bank interest rates are the highest since the late 90's.

the only thing now about lower mtg interest rates (if you were able to refi) and being capped at 10k for property taxes is there are married couples paying a crapload of interest and taxes and hardly getting anything back on their taxes.
