President Biden will be appointing an “anti-book ban” coordinator as part of his new strategy to protect the LGBTQ community. - The White House will hold the largest ever Pride event in history on the South Lawn this evening. - The anti-book ban coordinator, who has not yet been named, will advise school districts on the legality of banning books. - This comes after over 870 different books have been banned from school libraries/curriculums this year, which is 30% higher than last year. - Greater than 25% of the books banned in schools have had LGBTQ themes or characters. - More than 70 bills that the Human Rights Campaign considers anti-LGBTQ were passed during this legislative session, which is twice as many as last year.
