what am looking at now...
Duquesne (-4) vs Old Dominion; Just feel Duquesne is the better team here. Their 3 losses came against legit foes (Duke, Pitt, WVU) They have a very good guard in Aaron Jackson who averages 18 points, 6 boards, 6 dimes, and nearly 3 steals a game. He also shoots about 60% from the field, 40% from 3, and 80% from the line. He'll easily be the best player on the court tonight and is a big reason I like Duquesne here. Also add in the fact ODU has played the 310th ranked schedule this year. Play on Duquesne posted later im sure
Illinois State (-6.5) at Central Michigan; after first looking at this game last night I was on CMU, but upon looking into it more today I now like Illinois State. Illinois State's top 4 scorers (Oguchi, Eldridge, Phillips, Holloway) all score in double figures, and all shoot good percentages from the Field, the line, and from 3. Overall this team can just shoot the ball very well. Also Central Michigan has virtually no home crowd to back them. Only 523 fans were in attendance in a boring 8 point win over a horrible Alcorn State team. Probably will post a play later on Illinois State.
Austin Peay (+5.5) at Arkansas; Might have missed my chance on this one as the line is down to 5.5 from 7.5 last night. Austin Peay is a solid team, no way around it, they are well coached and play smart basketball. They are led by an undersized PF Drake Reed who despite being 6'5'' is getting 20 ppg and 8 rpg this year. Wes Channels also is a very solid guard for Peay. Arkansas has played NOBODY this year, their schedule is 334th toughest in the nation. Another thing I hate about Arkansas is they can't shoot FT's. 3 of their top 4 shooters (by FG's attempted per game) shoot it at 61% or worse from the line, that will kill you in close games. I'll wait to see what the spread does, either going to be on Peay or a no play...
UTEP (-2.5) vs Texas Tech; UTEP wants this one bad, they haven't beaten Texas Tech in I believe 7 years (1 meeting per season) and this year they have them at home and with a real shot at knocking them off. I got a chance to see alot of them in 76 Classic (tournament out in Cali) and they played very well against St. Marys and Wake Forest. Very athletic team that will be ready to roll tonight. Guard duo of Jackson and Culpepper combine for nearly 40 a game and a both very talented players. As much as it may seem surprising I just don't think Texas Tech has the athletes to hang in this game, and as I said before UTEP wants this one bad... look for a posted play on UTEP soon
Oregon (+2.5) vs St. Marys; Oregon gets a shot at St. Marys in a late west coast game. Say what you want about St. Marys and yes they have done a great job building their program to where it is now. However they have yet to show the ability to win a big road game in a hostile enviornment. They are 3-10 in non-conference road games since the 05-06 season. The biggest road win being a 5 point win at SDSU last year. I just don't feel they can go into a Pac-10 schools building facing 8-9 thousand fans and come out with a win. I Understand Oregon is down this year, but this bet isn't as much about what Oregon can do as it is what St. Marys CAN'T do. This is a major obstacle for St. Marys and until they clear it i'm going to continue to assume they can't. Probable play on Oregon coming later...
