Final game when he cracked 2000 , he sat out the whole 4th Q and like 5 minutes of the 3rd , It was a big time snow game ... Had he stayed in , It might be his single season record we speak of now instead of the Dicks.

Understood but you also need to figure in the almost double amount of fumbles he had if you want to use the smaller game comparison. It's all relative IMO. I think LT is the more complete back personally. Does it all including catching the ball out of the backfield.

Dont u think its hard to compare the two runners stats. Question hasnt the game been change so the offense is more effective. Would LT have those stats in jim browns day. Just saying its hard to compare. Also LT isnt even his teams 3rd down back.

I see what you are saying but the defense has been evolving right along with the offense. Jim Brown never had to worry about Shawn Merriman or Julius Peppers or Mario Williams or any of the other freak athletes on the other side. It goes both ways.

Nobody in Brown's era had to be worried about steroid freaks..Drinking was the choice of drugs back then..

Linebackers and defensive backs back in the day were nasty and could get away with any tactic they wanted before all the rule changes..guys like Butkus, Nobis, and Bednarik would take your head off, even little guys like Pat Fisher of the Redskins was mean...Ask Frank Gifford about Bednarik....

thats what i always argue, players played under different rules back then, or should i say no rules. you could hit somebody out of bounds, give them an elbow drop then pile drive them and no flag would be thrown. you could throw forearms, elbows, kick, twist a neck, facemask, horse collar and there was never an early whistle. poor jim brown took a beating.

dont forget about my boy RAY NITSCHKE viejo!!!!:103631605

one can only wonder what sanders and payton would have done on better teams.

all you can do is list a group . impossible to name the best ever.

Jim Brown was a difference maker in a different era. He only played until he was 29 years old, only played 14 games a season, played in an era that was significantly more brutal, was a great receiver and could block. Brown was an integral part of WINNING games, not just putting up stats.

I'd take Jim Brown

Hard to believe you can say stats don't matter and not have Barry Sanders on your list. I think you play too much Tecmo Bowl.
