You tell me mentioning Tebow is not a joke yet you mention Rice, Roy Williams and Freeney amongst the greatest CFB of the last 20 years? Are you serious?

can you read, just listing some great defensive players, go ahead and name some that are better than those at the college level.

tebow has 2 rings, a heisman, runner up for another... and oh yeah has another year left on what will be the consensus no. 1 team next year. :103631605

jevon kearse should be on the list for defensive players also.... and bush should probably be on my list also, maybe drop vy since he really only had one incredible year.

Freeney was great at SU , but he got even better when he got to the PROS. I watched him in person 20 times at SU and to call him the best ever in past 2o yrs is a bit of a stretch. Great college player, but like I said he got even better when he got to the pro level

it's definitely arguable, tougher to narrow down the defensive players because the stats are harder to compare. the u has spit out some great ones... lewis, reed, taylor.

Best overall player regardless of position

Orlando Pace

Quarterback- Vince Young, Tommie Frazier, and Matt Leinhart

Running Back- Barry Sanders and Adrian Peterson (Would have made it but off-field killed him Maurice Clarret)

WR- Keyshawn Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. Crabtree 3rd

TE- Jeremy Shockey, K2, and Derek Brown

OL- Pace, Walter Jones, Ogden, Joe Thomas, and John Tait

All-purpose Reggie Bush and Ted Ginn

DL- Dan Wilkinson, Glen Dorsey,

DE- Juluis Peppers and Ande Wadsworth (Boulware has to be considered as)

LBs-Lavar Arrington, James Lauranitas and Derrick Johnson

CB- Charles Woodson, Champ Bailey

Safeties- Ed Reed and An thony Poindexter(Taylor Mayes if he stays)

Kicker- Mike Nugent and Mason Crosby (Janikowski was very overrated).

Punter- TBD

Actually, Jevon didn't have a fantastic career at UF. Great talent, but played LB in College and used a edge rusher, but they didn't make great use of him. He really blossomed in the NFL.

yeah he didn't put up huge numbers, just remember what a freak he was even in college before the injuries piled up on him.

that's pretty good stuff there... posistions i would argue.

qb - gotta have charlie ward on there imo, i am suprised this is the first time leinart was mentioned.

wr - i would put moss over keyshawn... i know the competion wasn't great, but he was dominant.

safety - gotta give my boy roy williams some love... the guy was a beast at ou, to this day stoops will tell you he's the best defensive player he's coached.

great list overall

Don't get mad, but I actually forgot about Roy. Roy is easily on the list. I completely forgot him for some reason.

Roy is and was the best defensive player I have seen in the past 20 years. Everyone remembers the play against Texas, but the best game I remember him playing was in the loss to Nebraska at Lincoln. He completely dominated that game. He was in the backfield so quickly, it wasn't funny.

Roy absolutely belongs on the list. I forgot him for some reason. He is the best defensive player over the past decade. Everyone remembers the Texas play, but he played his best game in the loss to Nebraska, he was just stupid good that day.

Leinhart- because he lost 2 games by a combined 6 points and 1 in OT.

Ken Dorsey lost 2 games at UW and to OSU in OT as well.

Ward was fantastic, but I thought these guys were slightly more deserving.

At CB- also ad Dre Bly and Jamar Fletcher.

I'll tell you that Steve Emtman was a far better defensive college player than any of these guys and I'm not even thinking about it that much.

i'm not gonna lie, i know who he is but don't think i ever watched him play a game... doubt he was "far" better than woodson or williams though, both guys dominated games in their own way.

When was the last time you saw a DT/nose tackle drafted #1 overall in the NFL draft? I mean a D Lineman placing in the top 5 in the Heisman voting is very hard to do.

you are right about Steve Emttman. I forgot him as well.

He should actually be on the defense before any player except Charles Woodson.

He was a beast and I mean a beast.
