If you want a luxury sedan in the 30's, nothing will beat the Lexus 330ES. A sports car is a different matter.

one more thing, no matter what car you get, YOU HAVE TO GET SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO!! XM is ok but sirius is better. You will never go back to regular radio again.

If you never listen to me again, listen to me here.

First, do not under any circumstances buy (or worse) lease a brand new car. The new vehicle you are looking at today will lose 40% or so of it's value the first two years off the lot.

The best (and least expensive) way to purchase a vehicle is to find someone to take you to a dealer auction. This could be anyone who has a dealer license (in Maryland in your case).

You will find, if you have any patience at all, numerous vehicles that fit your requirements. If you strike the right deal you might be able to buy at maybe $500 over the dealer's cost.

Buying a vehicle in this fashion will save you tons of dough over the years. As you get better and better at the game you will find you can drive a car for a year and sell it for considerably more than you paid for it.

Only suckers (or independently wealthy persons) buy brand-new vehicles. The initial depreciation of a brand-new vehicle is the greatest net-worth destroyer in America today.

If one buys cars brand-new one undoubtedly has a car payment. A car payment alone will keep most folks out of the ranks of the wealthy.

Vinvidivici,

Although I generally agree with what you are saying, consider where you are saying it - A GAMBLING SITE!!! A place that is frequented by people like me who bet 2 dimes each on Golden State and Over in the second half simply because it is the last game of the night and we got to have a action at midnight. Fiscal responsibility is not one of our better qualities. Nevertheless, good advice.

Buck,

Was simply responding to a question asked in the forum. Probably would not have jumped in except the question was asked by my friend Journeyman. Hope he heeds my common sense advice.

check out the new Chrysler 300C. It has 370hp and looks kinda like a Bentley. I went and saw one at the local dealership, they are pretty nice...

That's just not true. I ordered a Touareg about 6 weeks ago and your pricing is off. VW makes a V6, V8, and V10...the only version near $58k BEFORE options is the V10

With that said, $30k isn't going to get you into the vehicle so your bottom line is correct.

the A4 is a nice car.

Out of all the nice cars I had the most solid was a BMW750. For some reason though the high end BMW's don't hold value for anything. It stickered for about 95k I bought it for 84 and a year later with 8k miles on it it was worth 56k. No explanation for that other than I was nuts for buying it.

The only high end car I ever had I didn't lose on was a 97 Porsche air cooled twin turbo. I bought it used with 3k miles on it for 105k. I was the third owner. I sold it a month later for 105k after I almost got killed in it. The scariest car I have ever driven.
The only way to describe that car is to take a rubberband-pull it back as far as you can and shoot it off the wall. Imagine being in 4th gear of a 6 speed going 90mph and bogging down.

JD one of the reasons that BMW may not hold there value is due to the high cost in repairs....just a guess.

They cover everything for 4 years 50k miles. After that I'm sure they are a ton to fix. Tires alone are about 250 each.

L5Y, USC is 4-0 vs SEC, outscoring them 167-48!!!

The Acura TL-S (Low to mid 30's)

Best bang for the buck!
-250+ HP
-4 door luxury sedan
-Navigation
-Leather
-Sport tuned suspension
-wood grain interior
-V rated tires
-dual exhaust
-Xenon headlamps
-excellent, excellent MPG'S
-Reliable for the long haul. (Built on Honda's platform)

And uh.....with the exception of the Navigation system ($1500), the above options are STANDARD!! Those options alone on a BMW 330 or Audi A6 would cost you a sticker of around $41K

Depends on the deal I suppose. I drive a Passat which is a very nice car for the money. I am thinking of getting a Lexus IS 300 or a BMW 325 next. All three are fun to drive and decent values, with the Passat being a little cheaper. If you really want to step it up a notch in sportiness you can't beat an RX8. Sports car and then some, the thing flies. It just isn't practical unless you get a lot of chances to drive on open roads, but looks great and drives even better. Best of all you get almost 30mpg even with nearly 300 horsepower!

I bought a Mercedes C230 and I really like it. It feels like a convertable with the sunroof.

Just buy used Journey. You can get a nearly-new condition used pimpmobile for thirty grand (Jags, Lotus, MB SL's and others.) I've never understood the phenomenon of people buying cars they don't intend to drive, but it works for me fiscally (I am a cheap, cheap motherfúcker and would not buy a new Kia if I had $ 50 million in the bank, but I will take all the like-new pre-depreciated Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbos you'd care to sell me.)
