i've seen the place, is it that good all the time?
what about pilsen? bocas? open hours?
i have also seen one nearby "barcelona" or something, any input on that one?

Bar amigos is 800 before 4pm..... Also my local bar in ciudad colon is under a dime a beer all day long.

Bar EQ in Tres Rios by the park is $800 colones all day everyday from 11am-12 Midnight. Great Bocas at super prices arroz con pollo 900 colones. Chifrijo like 800 colones and its a good plate full. WOLFIE thats the place of Don MArvin that used to have Cueva in Granadilla Brother we need to go one of these days for some frias:toast:

1k per beer is pretty standard most places, I wouldn't be advertising that as your "special"...

You could be right. Still, the going price versus what they advertise as if it's a big fucking deal are different.

Actually I bought a beer the other day at the store and it was only 455 colones, which is a big difference. Bars now a days are charging at least 3 times the cost ! Obviously prices are going to go up with inflation, but it seems here that they just go up in random increments one day to the next. What happened to CR, even the shitty local beer has gotten expensive. Anyone know of any good microbreweries here in Costa Rica ??

As far as I know there have only 3 brewing licenses issued in the whole country... The cervezeria nacional (pilsen, imperial, bavaria, rock ice, etc), K&S (closed their restaurant and now sell a couple of their beers through places like ToT), and some places near Limon that isn't even operating right now.

Sucks for people like me who like ales, they don't even get imported. My favorite beer available here is the only ale that does make it, Red Seal Ale from california, which is like 1600 colones at Auto Mercado.

LOL I was referring to beers available here. Red Seal Ale is just ok, I wouldn't buy it in the USA but the fact that i can overpay for a bottle at AMPM makes it a winner.
