Was it just me or was the audio of the race distracting I guess is the best word I can think of. Sounded like a lot of background noises and at times could hardly hear the announcer. Good broadcast other than the audio at times.

No it was weird , different, fucked up. its like race caller was not normal dude and was calling it within the crowd while on coke and distracted

Here is a great story about who the actual photographer was that took the famous photo of Secretariat at the finish line.

Charlie, thanks for posting the story. Very interesting. The author of the article Tim Layden did a great job of investigative journalism.

The Belmont joins the Kentucky Derby and Preakness in having its signature race marred by animal deaths. How many will be euthanized at Santa Anita before November... It's not the tracks causing this I'm thinking Drugs masking injuries more likely...

This is from an article I read this morning about the horse that was euthanized in race after the Belmont last night.

Activist Patrick Battuelo, who tracks deaths that occur in racing, training and stalls, says the death toll is about 2,000 annually.

"If they cannot prevent death with all this national heat, they simply cannot prevent death," Battuelo wrote in a text message.
