Clip,

I NEVER thought that Nash was the MVP of this league, not this year and not last year. He is obviously a great player, one of the top 10 in the league. But, as you stated, he plays absolutely NO defense. He does not deserve the MVP award. Especially with the season that both Kobe and especially Lebron had this year. I honestly do believe the fact that Nash is a small white player has a ton to do with it. Just think about the fact that if he were black and had the same numbers.....do you think he would have won the MVP? I know the answer! NO.

I agree. I just can't comprehend how he won...not to mention by such a large margin. The voting just makes no sense to me.

Play at one end of the floor and that is all that matters...you are suddenly the "most valuable" to your team even though they need to design half of their game plan around covering up for your lack of ability to defend. :icon_conf

All they look at is offensive stats. It is a joke.

Nash hasnt been Nash in the playoffs isnt he nursing an injury? The way he wrecklessly dives into the lane and turns it over sometimes is nothing to write about either. His 3 pt. % has been terrible too. Cant get the lift.

He doesnt look great right now, but he was a better player in the RS.

Having said that, I still think KOBE should have been MVP.

I'm just saying it's easier to pick on Nash right now.

right now Cassell > Nash

I disagree...I think Dallas is a great defensive team. The numbers are slightly inflated because they run so much offensively.

I haven't watched the Cavs enough to know about them defensively.

You are right on again Clip. Dallas does play good defense. Cleveland usually does as well. Brown is a Carlisle disciple and knows a thing or two about defensive rotations.

Couldn't agree more Clip. Kobe should have won in a landslide. These dumb ass media people like to go with the 'trendy" play. What a bunch of dumbshits. God bless Nash, love to watch him play and he will be huge game 7, but he is probably the most overrated player I have even seen in any sport.

I agree 100% again...

I live watching Nash play. He is a lot of fun to watch and obviously a great player. But I will never be able to comprehend how someone can be labeled the "most valuable" when they are a complete liability for 50% of the game.

very good point, if Nash was black, I don't think he would win it either, that made a lot of sense. :103631605

I'm not taking up for Nash, I felt LeBron or Brand should have won it, Nash is a fine player though.

LeBron will probably win the next 5-7 MVP's anyway.

I was surprised to hear Nash won it again....

Clipper is a little bit off with his Nash sucks talk I think...God help us if the LAC win a couple NBA titles!

When mediocre offensive players like Ross can just score on him at will, there is a problem.

Cleveland does not play good defense...

The Mavs are improving because they're just so athletic, but still they have guys like Stackhouse and Dirk and Van Horn....

I think Dallas is the best team in the NBA after watching the playoffs very closely....and the league is for a change much more even, and we're seeing some great series'

He is very underrated offensively...but I agree.

Ross is a guy that spends all his energy on defense. Too many others who need touches and have more skills offensively on the Clippers for him to ever be a scorer. But keep in mind he averaged over 20 a game in college. He was a scorer.

I NEVER said he sucked. He is a great player.

I just can't comprehend how you can be labeled "most valuable" when your team has to find ways to cover for your weaknesses in their game plan for 50% of the game. How is that valuable?

How can he be a great player than?

I'm here arguing something I don't really don't completely disagree with, Nash is a great player though, in his way...he's a very unique player.

I have no doubt in my mind that the fact that Nash is a small, white player makes all the difference in the voting. I mean it is only natural and human nature to look at him and ask how does he dominate games with his size and his color? LOL. But, that is why he won. Small and white. End of discussion.

There were much more deserving players this season. As for Lebron, he will win 5 or more MVP's in the next decade. The guy is an absolute beast. I would never have expected him to not only live up to all of the hype, but to play even better than everyone expected. I mean at times he looks like a man playing among boys. And it is the opposite. He is the young guy playing amongst men. Unreal.

LeBron is from another planet!

In every way, his mannerisms , his unbelievable basketball body, he dwarfed McDyess who actually has a great basketball frame himself, he makes him look small!

One thing LeBRon might not have that Michael did was get to the rim late in games,he was able to do this against Washington but not so much vs Detroit, LeBron seems to settle at times for that long jumper in crucial spots...He's so great already its scary...If they get by Detroit they will probably beat Miami.

If the NBA could lose the hip hop image it would be a much more appealing product, when hip hop started the NBA went downhill.

Barkley, Malone, Magic, Bird, Thomas, Kareem, Hakeem, Drexler, when they all retired and the hip hop era took over the NBA became garbage

:pucking:

The league still has Tim Duncan and an emerging Brand and James.

blah blah simple answer, MVP is most valuable player to team not best player, the Suns don't play defense as a team anyways, they just outscore their opponents...

There is your answer

Most fans associate with a 5-10 white PG who can ball out vs. an arrogant black accused anal rapist. He is a perfect poster child for the league.

The league was getting 2 ghetto with hip hop, tattoos, Ebonics, and baggy cloths. Most fans that go to games are white and it makes business sense to cater to your audience.

HERE IS THE DEAL:

I heard a few weeks ago The MVP is awarded to the best player on a team with a realistic shot to win it all.

KOBE NO
Le Bron NO
Brand NO

Some of these players turning their teams into teams with realistic shot s now.

Also the vote was OVERWEALMING if you look at first place votes for NASH.

Lebron has a shot to win it all. They are only 1 game from the Eastern Conference finals. So does Wade for that matter. I consider Wade more MVPish than Nash

All these posts and Clip never said who should have been MVP, how disappointing.

OK - Nash or LeBron were the best two candidates. Phoenix is a different animal, as they try to win by outscoring you. You cannot go by postseason results to see if Nash is deserving or not. Once a team finds a matchup it can exploit, there is not a lot the other team can do. I don't recall many taking defense into account when voting for the MVP.

After this year, the MVP will be LeBrons for awhile.

Bingo - so it is more important to create MORE scoring opps, which Nash does.

Don't forget Dallas let Nash go too because he wore down and had nothing left in the playoffs. I think this is the case in this series too.
