A friend of mine has crunched the numbers from the left-of-center website fivethirtyeight.com based on the trending state-by-state over the last 6 weeks. He predicts McCain will win 290 electoral votes to Obama's 248.

Races in close states:

McCain will win in: New Hampshire, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, Montana

Obama will win in: Iowa, New Mexico, Nevada

How sweet it would be.
