If you are thinking about taking Kansas State, I would recommend you go watch the game tape against Iowa State. Their skill position players do not have the speed to compete with Auburn. Kansas State's QB is SLOWWWW. Auburn's LBs and DL are faster than that kid.
Auburn will get the majority of the money, but the books will get their fair share of K st action as people will blindly take the home dog on Thursday night. Others will take K St because of their track record as a dog. This one will not be close, IMO. GL with whatever you decide.
I would disagree with this completely. Lockett is a sub 4.4 guy and can run with anyone in the country. He is a senior who has been around the block and win or lose will be a handful for the suspect Auburn secondary. Waters is a 4.5 guy who weighs in around 220-225 and his mobility should be an issue for Auburn. Burton has 4.4 speed on the outside, but the Wildcats don’t have much speed in the backfield. Speed doesn’t always equal talent or success, but to suggest the Wildcats are slow is completely inaccurate. I’ll admit I didn’t see the Iowa State game, so if they struggled with speed there I would assume it was an anomaly. I’m not suggesting Kansas State is comparable to Auburn in terms of speed or athleticism, but this isn’t some second tier program completely lacking in athleticism either.
In the recent past, Kansas State has specialized in knocking high powered up tempo offenses off their game. I’ll be very curious to see if they have the horses to do this to Auburn in this matchup. Snyder is a mastermind, but there may just not be enough in the tank in terms of talent for the Wildcats. We will see….
As for the books collecting Kansas State money, sure you will have some playing the home dog, backing the strong historical dog, etc., but they will be outnumbered seven-eight to one with the public love affair with Auburn. They have been a covering machine, are an SEC team playing out of conference and went to the championship last year. They are the epitome of a public side and every Joe around the block remembers what they did for them last year and will back them on a nationally televised game, which will be the only show in town.
That being said, I’m likely on the sidelines for this one.
Best of luck with whatever you decide.
